Guys who have put thumbs down on this, i would really care to know why. Please do comment. This laptop was just released last month. I have been monitoring the price for this laptop since launch. And a 40% off on this is in my opinion a good deal. But really i would like to know why some people think this is a bad deal

I was thinking of getting P1 gen 2 with the i7 / quadro T2000 / 4k display, but with the current sale the x1 extreme gen 2 is cheaper specced out exactly the same + 3 year premium warranty and and accidental damage warranty and lowest tier lenovo pro membership.

Wonder how much cheaper it would be on a higher tier...

The price of thinkpad increases significantly. I bought my x1 extreme last Black Friday for sround 1890 before tax. The same spec x1 extreme (gen 1) now on sale for $2705 before tax. What a joke. Same goes for x1 carbon. Looks like the tariff has kicked in already.

BTW, anyone wants to make a purchase this time, use THINKBIGSALE for higher discount (45% off) than THINKBIG.

True, I'd rather get Dell XPS with better specs for less

Upgrading SSD and RAM does not ruin Lenovo warranty unlike Dell. So if anyone is getting this, i would just recommend buying lowest version and then upgrade memory and hard drive

Good suggestion despite the fact that usually the lowest spec model comes with FHD screen. Someone might prefer at least WQHD or 4K to begin with. For that, there is no way to upgrade. If one likes FHD, then I agree should go for the lowest spec one and upgrade later on.

Looks like a good deal to me, so I gave reps. On that note, I rarely thumbs down anything. But if I do, I always add the reason. Thumbs down without any reason is like the morons on Amazon who one star an item because the UPS guy left the box in their flower bed!

If you follow the price of thinkpad closely, you will know how terrible this sale is, out of pocket price-wise. Lenovo bumps up MSRP like crazy. With that being said, even with a deeper discount (40-45% off), we are still paying much more than before when we only have a normal 30-35% off sale. My own experience (in a few post above) confirms this. I am waiting for a deal to buy a x1 carbon for my wife. When I see the deal post this morning from somewhere else, I am thrilled at this 45% off sale. However, after I check more in details, I noticed that something is going on here with Lenovo. Almost every single model is much more expensive than what it was a few months back. I am still kicking my head not buying a x1 carbon on sale back in May for about $1500 (i7+16GB+500GB+WQHD 500nits). The similar spec one now is close to $2000 after discount. Bummer.

I did not thumb down, to be clear.Smilie

Thank you, that is useful information and context. I agree, it's still not enough reason to thumbs down the post though. This might be the best deal right now. If someone wants one today, this might be the best option. Some people have mentioned the affects of the tariffs, but I don't think the most recent ones are in play until Septemeber 1st.

I'm guessing because of the keyboard? I work on my XPS 15 and that's the only thing I miss coming from an X1C 3rd gen.
