Amazon shameless price matching when best buy sets off sales. Brick and Mortar stores are closing left and right. If we don't support them now, when amazon is spoiling everyone with one click purchases (including myself), imagine how the shopping experience will change in the next 10 years and now. There are amazon deals that cant be beat, I'm on the same boat, but there are way more reasons to choose other retailers when all that Amazon is doing is aggressively price matching.
The only reviews I see on amazon are illiterate folks who are complaining the drive comes with 9.09TB lol
My rule of thumb is always pick the other option besides Amazon (and I buy a lot from Amazon), Do you think they would ever sell this drive for $160 if Best Buy didn't push them to do it?

Any idea what's inside? Need five for a RAID and don't mind shucking. Also any idea if this needs the third pin covered?

the general consensus seems to be that they are relabeled WD Reds. I bought 4, and all 4 required the 3 pin mod.

Pulled this answer from someone asking the same question on BestBuy page. "It is a "White Labeled" drive, but it is the same drive as a WD Red. If you are using this HDD out of the enclosure, be sure to isolate Pin 3 on the power connector, they're are some videos on youtube on how this is accomplished."

How's the review on this HD for the people that have this?
It's a great hard drive. I only have one 10tb one (white labeled but the common belief is it's a red) and haven't had any issues with the 3 8tb white label drives I have from previous deals.

Just watch this video because with all three of my systems I had to cover the pin with electrical tape. Super easy and quick to do. [youtu.be]

Then go with the 8tb but I haven't had any issues and my guess is it's rare? The drives still have an 4.8 out of 5 on BB and on Amazon it has a 4.5 out of 5. They're still mechanical and fragile so yeah.

I have 7 of these as this deal keeps coming up and I can't help myself. They are great drives. Speed wise they top out at about 112MBS connected to the nas and through Ethernet. I've had no problems with very large 4K hdr atmos files streamed from them to various devices. They are connected to the nas and always on with no problems after many months

Yes you do.
Not always. 3rd pin mod is only for older power supplies. For I am currently using 2 of these without needed 3rd pin mod
