So what are the cons? It's not thin, nor light. The camera is hot garbage to me, but the wife uses it for Zoom and hasn't complained yet, so there's that. The screen is ... meh. I mean, our phones have better screens, and I'll bet a $150 phone might as well. At first I was concerned about the 4GB of ram, but honestly, it hasn't been a problem YET. I'm sure, in the future we'll have to revisit this. I would like an ethernet jack, but it's hard to tell because they only use them in the house and we have good wi-fi. If we go on vacation, it might be a different story. Also, 128GB of storage is nothing these days. You will run out fast if you have a lot of media. But this problem isn't exclusive to this particular model, as the majority of laptops are in the same boat. So add the cost of external storage (SD card, external drive, cloud) to the overall price. Finally, the battery life is not good. You'll have to pay more to start getting decent longevity.

As for the worry about torrents and vpn in the other reply, you can put in a second usb network card. Remote into one card, vpn out the other.
My in-laws have 100mpbs optical fiber. Would this laptop be good enough to leave at my in-laws as a remote access computer? That way I could download everthing on weekdays and retrieve all the information on weekends while visiting them.
It would be plugged in all the time. Sounds like a good plan?
If you plan to use VPN for downloads, you will not be able to remote connect to the laptop if its on VPN. If you are able to connect via remote desktop while its on VPN, then your VPN is not in full tunnel mode and the ISP is seeing everything being downloaded.

Better to just do a full upgrade for most people with a 5 year old computer. Some good deals around $300 or so, for work. This deal is more of a young kids computer.
