these are all wires and if you took the time to check the product page you woulda known
These are always going to be better than a sound bar in my opinion. This will give you full 5.1 surround sound. A sound bar is only directly facing you.
I would definitely recommend it. I've been enjoying the Onkyo system in my media room quarantine style.

I currently own this and it's amazing for the price no sound bar will compareif you want surround sound. Has arc feature as well so you can hook up 4 hdmi to it as well. I have it in my game/movie room and it's about a 12'x10' and sounds amazing!

That being said, I don't see it performing as well in bigger areas. You just won't get that extra thump like you would in smaller space. Also consider you have to run wires and have to get some stands for the rear speakers.

I have a huge rug in my room so I ran the cables under it and bought some universal stands for 25 bucks I believe. I also want to mention if I wanted to run cables along edges even in the 12'x10' space I have I would have required longer wires for the rear speakers.

I'm honestly very happy with the set. Games sound amazing and just watched jurassic park lost kingdom and it was quite and experience this onkyo delivered.

Bought Onkyo S7700 HTIB refurbished in 2015 for around $350 I think. It was there 2nd highest model in their HTIB. Sounds great in my media room. Not sure how this unit stacks up but make sure this unit has Audessy to setup the speakers for the room and not sure if this unit has atmos. The S7700 came with atmos speakers built in to the front left and right speakers which was pretty sweet for an entry level system.

Great deal BUT if you plan to add Dolby atmos later on, you are restricted to 3.1.2 which limits the surround experience compared to 5.1.2, or am I missing something?

I haven't installed yet so I can't comment yet on the quality. Thanks for the reply.

I've had this for 19 months. It's worked perfectly. Really a steal for the price.

Setting it up is easy as its on screen. I highly recommend you read the manual as some settings aren't enabled by default.

For those with questions here is a link to the manual directly from Onkyo

We've really enjoyed this over having a soundbar.

We definitely recommend it

Debating hard on the feasibility of getting this set up in my apartment, especially with the wire management part. Any suggestion? Thanks!

Reddit or AV Forums would be the definitive source for info. I'd venture that depending on distance from rear speakers to TV you're going to get some amount of lip sinc delay using wireless vs wired. How much (if it's even discernable) would depend on the system.
