I have 805 fico and they decline my Application for Venture credit card and wasted 1 credit check. I won't be applying any Capital one credit card anytime soon.
Call the reconsideration line, could be an error on the app or a typo. Happened to me before
Keep in mind that you'll also get a hard pull from all 3 bureaus anytime you apply for a Capital One credit card.

I got approved for the 300 back after spending 500 promo, and my question is... does any type of purchase qualify? For example, could I just buy some gift cards and call it a day?
It'll work. I have my "tracker" on the app saying I am $128.13 spend away from the bonus, and $185.95 of that total I have spent was toward a Visa gift card.
They declined mine because my credit was frozen. Called the reconsideration line after unfreezing the credit, they reprocessed the application and declined again saying "You have a recently declined application at capital one, so we can not approve this one" Dumb! Dumb! Dumb!
Yea they been sukin lately They are probably up to something
Got offer for 300 back on 500 spent. Have 818 score and still got declined. I was never ever declined by any bank. Maybe I didn't fill in all the optional questions asking for how much would spend and balance transfer. Still answer to those questions does not quite justify one's creditworthiness. Anyone I will call their recon line once, and if I don't get approved it's goodbye to CapOne for forever.
I was approved for the capitol one card and when they sent it to me it was suspended and they couldn't prove my identity.
I sent drivers license photos a selfie a billing statement from another card nothing worked
And I already had another account with them.
Canceled everything
No thanks to capitol one not twice

Sort of the same. Offered another quicksilver card and I accepted only to learn it didn't have the bonus. Over 800 score as well.

Choose Capital One as a last resort. I will never apply to any of their card ever. I was declined for having "too many active cards". If having 9 cards with hardly 1% utilization is too much then your scoring model is naïve. I would love to close down my cards, but then the scoring model will penalize for having a short credit history. It's a catch 22. No point in discussing with Reps as they are not equipped to override such obvious requirement.

The Capital One card I got approved for CC number 9 for me right now and I have low single digit utilization on my credit lines. I probably average 1 or 2 new cards/year and I also probably close as many per year so I hover around 7-10 credit cards. The Capital One was the third credit card for me this calendar year though.
I don't know what their model looks at, but I am guessing your cards and utilization aren't what they were looking at or I would have been denied as well.
>>> The Citi Double cash card is 2% and I would pick that over PayPal or SoFis offering any day of the week.
To me, Citi stands second to Wells Fargo as sons of Satan.
All based on what they did with mortgages 2005-2009.
Also, had a Citi card years back. *Never* used it, but by end of second month had a bogus charge on the account. Bad internal security is the one possibility.
Not a good company to do business with.
Interesting that they turn people down with really high scores that pay their bills and accept people with much lower scores. Sounds like they want people that will keep a balance and pay them extra fees.
That's how they make good money offering credit cards.

Spending $500 gets $200. The bonus is very good though its reward1.5% cashback is not good. The Capital One SavorOne Cash Rewards Credit Card has the same bonus. That card seems better than this Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card because the SavorOne earns 3% cashback on the restaurant and grocery stores.

The SavorOne is an excellent card choice and pairs nicely with the Venture X. Currently it gets 10% on Uber and UberEats purchases and provides for free Uber One service through November 2024.
