I've had it for a few months. Kinda disappointed in it. Unless you mod it, it really isn't worth it. Most of the games aren't worth playing. The wifi is a pain to set up. The optional monthly service is really not worth it because you pay $15-$20 bucks a month for a larger selection of games that you mostly have never heard of. On a positive note the controller build however is very good quality and responsive.
Not gonna discuss the value of their subscription service but they offer a 6-month block which comes out to $10 per month.

A couple things some of the experts here may know:

Sounds like the trackball from atgames isn't very good. Can it be upgraded easily?
As others have mentioned, you can purchase the shim kit which will give better support to the trackball brackets which have a tendency to crack. Supposedly a third-party trackball is in development which is supposed to be better than the AtGames one.

Quote from Ride_The_Sky :
How does this connect to TV?
Like others have mentioned, you connect the puck to your TV via HDMI cable. FYI--the included HDMI cable is but a mere ~14" in length.

Quote from Guy767 :
I think he is confusing the USB drives that some sellers are listing with Coinops already installed on them. A quick search for sold "new" listings reveals quite a few custom Coinop USB sticks. [ebay.com] These listings are against Ebay policy as they are selling copyrighted software without permission from their owners/authors.

There's no "new" listings [ebay.com] as far as I can find that are less than $159.99. There's an open box listing for $129.99 but it's probably used IMO...
They get around it by advertising that they are selling a USB stick and not the ROMs that are included in it.

Quote from romodome :
I see a bunch of 32gb flash drives on Etsy for about $50 with about 1600 games. Anybody have a way to purchase a card with a lot more games?
Buy your own high-capacity USB stick (or microSD card and use in conjunction with USB card reader) and then use the resources mentioned in this thread to download the games and set up your USB drive for use with the LGP.

Quote from shaker58 :
so I can just buy this and games will be added? I'm not so tech savvy and would just purchase the right usb to add the games

Have you've NOT EVER downloaded and/or installed software/programs of any kind on your own computer, or downloaded/copied/saved files in or between folders on your PC? If you have or are capable of doing any of that, then you don't need to waste your money buying preloaded sticks from Etsy and thus allowing those sellers to profit off of someone else's hard work in creating all of those saUCEs designed to work on the LGP or other AtGames arcade gaming hardware.

I don't understand how or why some folks can apparently be so intimidated of the prospect of setting up their own USB stick and load games onto it--it's not like you have to write programming code or assemble/install a complicated piece of hardware.

Quote from lleung1980 :
Do they make 4 persons controller?
No; either buy a pair of LGPs or if you have a couple of Xbox BT controllers lying around you can simply pair those to the LGP puck.

Here's the thing. You don't even need to buy a raspberry pi. If you had an old laptop lying around (or desktop PC), you can load Ubuntu on it, and run Retropie on it. But since you asked, I did take a photo of my Retropie that should be attached to this post.
The trackball alone in this is worth 50$. The joysticks and buttons are 70$. The games may be worthless, but it plays up to ps1 with a simple usb.

What you've shown for 100$ is a small system that supports zero players. You don't have a controller. If you buy two 8bitdo Pros (and you should), you're out another 100$ just to play.

That part is easy, I'm just wondering what stick/trackball unit you are using? They aren't cheap to make and to handmake one like this, it would probably cost close to $100, assuming you had the tools.

So I have a couple of more technical questions about this thing:

1) All of the talk on modding seems to be using the built in 'OS' which allows you to mount an external USB with the coinopsx software and the properly formatted ROMs to play any game you want. Are there any other modding options that allow you to replace the OS/firmware so you can just put all the ROMs on the device itself, as well as modding the internal functionality?

2) I am a bit confused about the online aspect/requirement of this, as I've seen some concerning things. It sounds like, even when using the coinopx mod, that you still need to setup an online account with the manufacturer AND, even more concerning, have it call home every few days to continue using it in that way. Is that correct? So even if I want to use my own ROMs and coinopx or whatever, I still need to let it integrate with the online service and can't just set it up and leave it offline? Is there a fee for this? What happens when/if the manufacturer goes out of business and the servers go down or they decide to change their policies on third party ROMs?

Looks like you can easily switch them out with whatever you want but this guy breaks down the entire stick
Thanks. I can swap parts out of my tankstick, too. I just want to know how good the stock parts are Smilie

1. No. I plan to just load up coinops on PC instead of dealing with the built in software. I don't like the internet requirement/devices calling home.

2. It becomes only a controller at that point with BT and USB support.

All these DIY are great but people like to pay for convience. Being broke and young with massive amounts of avail spare time I used to DYI everything. Working full time with a wife/kid i value my free time and energy so much more so i find myself paying for convience unless its really something im passionate about or can't afford. From this thread sounds like alot of DIY people can prob make some good money with their builds from the questions/demand for something like this.

I would just rebuy and return the sealed one. Less hassle imho
You just need to do a chat and request the price refund for the lower price. I don't see how that's more hassle than buying and returning.

Well the thing is that it's literally done for you. It's not like you have to wrangle up all the individual rom files, then configure the art, vid clips, and config the keys. You just have to buy a USB drive and copy a few files and it's done.

Ack ditto what that other guy said about days like this on Slickdeals. Just bought this and the Galaga cabinet. I think I have a problem. Just love stuff like this even though I already have multiple ways of playing these games. lol.

Although this will be my 1st trackball...truly is the best way to play Centipede and Millipede.

Sounds like you're the target type of consumer for this thing. Someone who isn't tech savvy that wants to pay for free ROMs.so they don't have t spend an hour or less building something. My Retropie with case, controllers, and over 10k games was right at $100. You can probably do it for even less nowadays with the kits they sell.
You comparing a retro pi console to a portable arcade sticks... Lol apple to orange...smh and i built 3 arcades with pi4 in it and no I didnt pay for the games. Sounds like your really dont know what youre talking about. Go find a arcade box with sanwa or happ parts that has wifi and games built in to it for less than 100... Lmao

Great deal. Easy to mod. Bought the $150 deal and it felt like a steal. Research Coinops X.

I think it stops before PS1 and dreamcast stuff. You CAN however plug this in via USB and use with a computer. However trackball stuff like Golden tee works great with this. I just wish it had more pinball support
I plan in using the side buttons plugged into PC for FX3 pinball!
