Based on your silly comments, it sounds like this is something you don't have a very good handle on.

Of course this is just my opinion, but I wouldn't want this bulky thing sitting on my lap, so it would need to mount to something, and with the player 2 controller so close to the player one, I would hope the person sitting next to me took a bath and wore some deodorant or it's going to be a long (or maybe very short) night.

Same games you can just load on a RetroPie for free and play on occasion, which is probably what most people do anyway. When I feel like gaming, more than likely I'm going to hit the PS4 or PC anyway, or you can just kill two birds with one stone and emulate on a PC/Laptop.

Now if you want to sit cheek-to-cheek with your buddies playing Mortal Kombat or whatever, I'm the last person who is going to try to stop you. Enjoy.
Have you ever been to an arcade? Being next to your opponent is part of what you want here.

You're not playing this in an arcade. You're sitting on your couch. But the arcade argument doesn't fly either. When I was a kid, I would go to the arcade and sometimes you ran into some pretty funky people. Playing Street Fighter 2 standing next to a sweaty nerd that smells like rotten salty cheese isn't my idea of a fun time.

I don't invite people without hygeine into my home so this is not a concern.

Why do you continue to post your opinions in here when it's clear nobody wants to hear them? I've been following this thread and you are acting ike a superior bunghole. Just drop it.

So I have a couple of more technical questions about this thing:

1) All of the talk on modding seems to be using the built in 'OS' which allows you to mount an external USB with the coinopsx software and the properly formatted ROMs to play any game you want. Are there any other modding options that allow you to replace the OS/firmware so you can just put all the ROMs on the device itself, as well as modding the internal functionality?

2) I am a bit confused about the online aspect/requirement of this, as I've seen some concerning things. It sounds like, even when using the coinopx mod, that you still need to setup an online account with the manufacturer AND, even more concerning, have it call home every few days to continue using it in that way. Is that correct? So even if I want to use my own ROMs and coinopx or whatever, I still need to let it integrate with the online service and can't just set it up and leave it offline? Is there a fee for this? What happens when/if the manufacturer goes out of business and the servers go down or they decide to change their policies on third party ROMs?
hopefully there will be a walk around or strip it and use it for parts, don't forget after some of there updates you have to redo your USB stick.. it's always something. Good luck to the folks who bought it
