I did the same. I personally would wait. There are too many variables to consider to make this worth it:
- filter might last longer than indicated due to my smaller room sizes, less frequent use, etc.
- the machine might break before then
- I might not remember that I have bought these extra filters 2 years from now
- Saving $10 over the span of 2 years of not using it is not exactly worth it. If it's for immediate use, I'd jump on it right away.
No, the C535 uses a different filter which is larger so these will not work on a 535.
Yeah, I don't trust Amazon for stuff like this. Too easy to make knock-offs and sell them for a too-good-to-be-true price

I seem to remember people saying the virus is smaller than .3(?) microns or whatever... So this isn't useful for that, right? Thinking about bringing mine into my classroom, but not convinced it'll help much at all

The filter change indicator is not based on how dirty it is, its based on time of filter light reset. Just reset it again.

Can you say how to reset the filter light?

Costco sold these on sale July 2020 for $30 a piece. If you bought the unit on sale with the 2yr filters, you might want to hold off as they could go lower.

Do air purifiers really work effectively? Dehumidifiers work.

There is a tiny pinhole you need to push a needle or something through and hold for 3 seconds. This is how I reset it on my 535.

I ordered a couple of the c545's that come with two sets of these for $99. I'm guessing most people are just going to take them back after 2 years at this price for just 1 year of filters lol
I won't take mine back if it's still working.

COVID attaches to particles that can be filtered with an air purifier. Mayo Clinic says to use HEPA filters.

Air filters that remove small particles, such as high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters, are effective in removing contaminants from the air. The most common household appliances to use HEPA filers are portable air purifiers; vacuum cleaners; and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, such as your furnace.

COVID-19 is not expelled on its own. It has to attach to something else to travel, such as mucus, a respiratory droplet or a piece of dust in the environment. A HEPA filter does not kill the COVID-19 virus, but the elements that can transport the virus attach to the filter so they cannot circulate in your living area.

This is why you buy the C535.

It's a probability thing. Even a T-shirt mask lowers the risk a little. This will lower the risk a lot more. In other words, it's still very useful, just not perfect.

I wouldn't buy filters I'm not going to use for two years when I don't know if I'll still be using the purifier then.

A mask helps because COVID doesn't circulate on it's own, it needs to attach to larger particles like respiratory droplets. So yes HEPA filters can be effective.

Virus particles do not float around in the air on their own. They are transported via droplets and aerosols, which are large enough to be captured by filters and most decent masks.
