Free line requires 2+ existing lines. New customers or existing customers with one line have different requirements. Does NOT stack with Costco or T-Mobile rebates.

https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...free_line/

From Reddit:
Customers on an eligible plan (list below) with 2 or more paid voice lines can add another voice line for free via monthly bill credits. Business plans are included. Customers must not already be at their rate plan's maximum number of lines. Business customers must have less than 12 lines to qualify.

You must maintain all the lines you have now + the free one for 12 months to keep the free line credits. After that, you must maintain at least 2 paid lines + this free line to keep the bill credits.

This promo will actively take priority over the current Third Line Free promo. This means new accounts adding 3 lines or existing accounts with 1 line adding 2 lines will receive this promo, not third line free, meaning they will not stack unless you already had third line free to begin with.

The free line stacks with phone promos currently available, as well as Carrier Freedom/Keep and Switch/Zero Cost to Switch. It does not stack with Costco or T-Mobile rebate promos.

BOGO for T-Mobile ends 3/16 - https://slickdeals.net/f/14878039-t-mobile-2021-buy-one-get-one-voice-add-a-line-for-existing-customers-ymmw

20% Hookup - https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/..._17th_for/ - This is YMMV for targeted Home Internet & Connected Device customers.

From Reddit:
Starting March 17th the Insider Hookup will return for existing T-Mobile customers that have Home Internet or Connected Devices with no voice lines.

This promo will allow you to port in from your existing carrier and get 20% off all voice lines for the lifetime of the account.

To clarify: The only people eligible for this upcoming Insider Hookup are Existing T-Mobile customers that do NOT already have voice lines at all. You must have Home Internet from T-Mobile or a connected device like a tablet or hotspot, but you can not already have voice lines.

QA note: YMMV https://www.t-mobile.com/offers/deals-hub

--------

T-Mobile has updated the SOC list again to revert it back to an earlier version. It now includes more SOCs. The SOC image in the main post has been updated. -- Jman100

  1. Install the Chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstor...ldjhocmmpl
  2. Add the Firefox extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/...mo-helper/
  3. Go old school and sift through the web code: https://www.reddit.com/r/tmobile/...soc_codes/

Quote from ouloat :
For anyone looking to buy a iPhone 8 for the trade-in requirement for Tmobile's iPhone 12, the following are the different sources ranked from best to worst. Keep in mind the phone carrier doesn't matter for the trade-in, so it can be unlocked, AT&T, Verizon, T-mobile, anything. Phone must not have water damage, cracked screen, anything that could be perceived as a cracked screen, password lock, or icloud lock. Small dents, scratches, screen burn, and weak batteries are okay.

Trademore - iPhone 8 starting at $159 [trademore.com]
Folks in the Cricket iPhone SE thread been trading their iPhone SE's for $200 Paypal from Trademore, so we know they are legit. They are also the trade-in inspector one of the cell carriers (Verizon or AT&T), so doubt they will sell anything that doesn't pass inspection. They will probably be your safest bet to acquire a good quality trade-in. Shipping is included in the price.

Swappa - iPhone 8 starting at $158 [swappa.com]
Swappa's policy is no junk, so you are covered if you receive something you can't trade in. That said, since everyone is a third party, you get a wide variety of prices and conditions. I have received cracked screens before, but the seller took it back immediately. Still, this may cause you to lose this Tmobile promotion. Shipping is included in the price.

Local (Craigslist, Offerup, etc)
Your experience will vary, and the onus is on you to validate the phone is ready for trade-in. You might score with a great deal, or you might get ripped off. Only go this route if you know how to inspect phones or you need the phone the same day.

eBay [ebay.com]
You will have to read each listing very carefully, since there are listings for cracked, water damaged, icloud locked, or otherwise untradeable phones. Returns policies also vary by seller. Unless you score an amazing deal on ebay, Trademore or Swappa are safer options.

Your comment cannot be blank.

If you remove any paid lines within the first year, the free line loses the promo and becomes paid.

TMO doesn't want people doing what you're wanting to do.

To accomplish it, you would need to:

1. Add free line.
2. Wait a year + one day.
3. Port out paid line to another carrier.
4. Keep paid line active on another carrier for 90 days (to preserve number).
5. Port old number back in on free line.

This whole process has taken you 1.25 years. Peace
My port-in was initiated during T439 promo period and completed today outside of the promo period. Without the port in (with only the added line and traded-in) I was on a bad promo. Once the port-in completed today, the system auto updated to T439 promo in my account --> promotions. Therefore, I don't think it was a requirement the port-ins must be completed by 3/24 EOB, just as long as they are initiated.
YES, you can use this sim in your iPad. I pay for 2 lines and have 3 free lines on promotion (5 lines total)
I have 2 of my free lines in a iPad and a Samsung S4 tablet, with UNLIMITED data.
You have to call them and tell them you want to use the line (promo line) in a tablet but don't want to lose the promotion and you don't want to open a new line for this.
What they did for me, was block the phone service on the line and kept the messaging and data. That way I am able to use it in my tablet.
Every summer my daughter comes and visit from Germany. I take one of the sim card out of my tablet and put it in her phone..
I call T-Mobile and have them unblock the phone service. That way, my daughter has a phone while she is here in country.
When she leaves I call them back and get it blocked again. I have been doing this for close to 5 years. So I know for a fact it works.
Tomorrow I will be calling to try and get another free line.. (Fingers Crossed)
Hope this helps

Ask them to put in Generic Apple. If its been through a couple of hands nobody really knows where it was originally from.
You can also search for the IMEI online. Sometimes it will show from where it originated
Thank you - Linda85 was able to help me with the carrier info and it turned it was an apple warranty replacement so I asked Tforce to put generic and they were able to process it.

I just checked my account and there is no separate tracking number for the SIM card that I was charged for. There is a line item for the phone and the SIM card and it shows the SIM card as shipped.

In addition, I just received an email stating my account has been activated, referring to the new line. I just don't want to open the phone if I don't have to but still want to use the SIM card on a different phone.
Use this to track your order status, no login needed. Use the order # from the SIM shipped email confirmation here - https://www.t-mobile.com/order-status. In my case SIM was shipped by USPS and I was able to find the tracking number only using this method and couldn't find the order online in my account.

The SIM in the mail is the activated one, and you can put that SIM in any compatible phone. You wouldn't need to open the phone that's getting shipped to you.

I suggest looking for places to port that's cheap or free, with Visible BYOD $100 GC / $25 per month. With party size now unlimited, you can join any random group if having less than 4-lines.

Or, Cricket at 4 for $100. With Cricket, you can pair it with a discounted phone on port-in, which you can use to trade when returning to T-Mobile. Timing is always an issue. There were many who made use of iPhone 7 ($0) / 8 ($50) / 8+ ($100-150) deals with Cricket last year, which were traded to T-Mo for iPhone 11 /12 deals.

AT&T offers $250 GC up to two lines / account for BYOD.

I was in a similar situation when Sprint's free service ended in June last year. Switched to Visible / Cricket, and spent enough time outside (3-4 months) to come back in as a new customer, and combined with Insider / Hookup discount and iPhone trade-in deals. The Visible rebates paid for the time I was out of Sprint / T-Mo. Started with 4-line (primary lines) Magenta plan at $112 and have added three free (secondary / kids) lines so far (Nov 20, Dec 20, Mar 21) - so now $112 for 7. I just missed one more free line that came when Hookup was offered last year, else I would have been at $96 for 7 now. Icing on the Nov 20 free line was the $200 Costco Card + $100 T-Mo port-in rebate. I will stay put for sometime with T-Mo and look for options when the EIP ends to rotate some paid lines.

With BYOD deals with other carriers, there are plenty of places to move around without breaking the bank.
Great tips man...thanks a lot.
Pls do keep us posted in case anyone finds a BYOD deals like Cricket you mentioned...!!!

The BOGO at Costco is dead right?
I added a line Sunday night on the site to make sure I didn't miss the promo, but I'm looking to upgrade my wife's phone (trade in of S9) and then either sell my S20 FE for $$$ and get a BOGO S21 5G and perhaps a S21+ or Ultra for me.
Any opinions? I was scouring the Costco sheet and it looks like the BOGO promo ended there on the 18th, so trying to figure the best way.

Also, looking for a phone number to port as well. Will pay via AGC, etc.
The S21 BOGO at Costco is good until April 4th.. But where did you initiate the free line? On TMO? I believe for "Costco" to get paid by TMO, and thus you get BOGO through them, you have to open the line from them if "new line required" is part of the deal. . .and it is. But maybe I'm wrong.

No matter where you initiated the free line, you could still do the $800 in bill credits on that new free line if you buy 2 phones. or do the trade in on single line (doesn't have to be the new line). But sounds like your best bet right now is grab a BOGO without trade (whether Costco if eligible or through TMO) and sell your phones on FB etc. I did this and got $475 net on my S20FE last weekend.

Also, Costco does not run or own the kiosk at the Warehouses. It leases the space to Wireless Advocates.

I used the link you provided to check on the status of the order and the only item showing is the phone. It shows delivered, which is correct. There is not a separate order for a SIM card. I added a line and ordered/paid for the SIM card at the same time. The two items are showing under order status in my account. So, I am not sure if I will be receiving a SIM card.

I'm not sure what you want to do here but if you just want to keep the phone seal then just use another old sim card if you have one lying around. As long as it is not too archaic you can activate it. Probably have a sim in a phone box if you ever purchase a phone in the past 2-3 years. Activate via your account online

If you ordered phone when activating the new line, you will get charged for the SIM, which is inside the phone already. So, you are not getting a separate SIM in that case.

For me, my line was ordered first and then phone later which had the SIM inside. So, now I have a spare.

Trade in always required for Iphone on US. Plus new line is okay no port in necessary.
I don't know they will keep running free line promo.

Believe the promo is up on the site...heard from someone that it says trade in iPhone 8 plus and get iPhone 12 $415 off...or something close to that.

I think it's due to how the new line was added. If the line was already active, you could have done a SIM swap with your spare.

If you had added just the line without phone, you would have a SIM shipped out and the line gets activated within 24 hours after SIM ships.

If ordered with a device, you likely need the device to activate as SIM is inside.

Here is my sequence of events, which likely helped even without getting the ordered SIM:
3/17 - Free line added by phone support, SIM ordered.
3/18 - SIM shipped.
3/19 - Line activated and email confirmation received. LOU 6 showed up on Account.
3/20 - Port completed in-store over the new line activated on 3/19 replacing it, but iPhone 12 out of stock
3/21 - iPhone 12 activated (8+ trade in) with ported number using the SIM inside. Bill credit / trade-in shows up online in an hour after phone purchase.
3/23 - SIM from 3/17 order gets delivered.
Did you order the phone online yourself?
