At 100' 12 gauge is only rated for 15 amps. At smaller distances, you are correct, 20 amp will run over 12 gauge, but not in this case.

I haven't done much research but my 50fter is performing and holding up nicely. I already picked up two Utilitech 100ft 12/3 cords during the $26 b&m deal. Otherwise I'd grab one.
