I would. In a single drive setup like you're talking about the performance of a 5,400 RPM drive is going to be more noticeable than in something like a multi-drive array such as what's found in a NAS. There's a reason why Ubiquiti offers this drive but in the eight terabyte 7,200 RPM flavor.

Definitely weigh this first-hand account higher than my post above. I have a UDM Pro currently but have yet to pop for an HDD. When I ordered my UDM Pro I already had a camera setup and a license of Blue Iris software to run it all. I figured I'd eventually upgrade pieces here and there but wasn't in any hurry so I was sure I'd find a better deal on a HDD than the 8TB for $190 they offer. I'm kind of kicking myself as the prices haven't really come down and now I'd like to add a G4 Doorbell and replace my annoying Amcrest one that was the best of the sub-$200 w/o recurring fee options. I was concerned that the smaller drives wouldn't be enough storage and also the 5,400rpm would be a noticeably hit to performance whenever interacting with recordings & such.

You're saying that this drive is perfectly fine for 5 cams running FHD? How much capacity do you use up roughly?

If this drive will meet my needs (probably a doorbell cam and 4-5 external cams for now) I may just grab one now and order up the doorbell cam to get swapped out and running ahead of overhauling the rest of my cam solution.

I am using 4 of these in my unifi unvr. These are the best of the best. For a nvr, you do not need 7200rpm.
