I'd buy it again as I only run 5 cameras at fhd.

You're saying that this drive is perfectly fine for 5 cams running FHD? How much capacity do you use up roughly?
If this drive will meet my needs (probably a doorbell cam and 4-5 external cams for now) I may just grab one now and order up the doorbell cam to get swapped out and running ahead of overhauling the rest of my cam solution.

Keep in mind that your UNVR reads/writes to multiple drives simultaneously so the individual drive speed isn't as important. The array is much faster than the individual drives contained within and often times the network connection is the bottleneck on something like a NAS or another device (your UNVR for instance) that uses several drives in an array. Something like a UDM Pro has but one drive slot so that means that the rotational speed of the drive is the bottleneck in the chain. His question is a lot more relevant in that device than yours. Another poster above said that the performance is fine w/a single 5,400rpm drive but I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison on something like the UDM Pro to see what the real world experience difference really is.
