I have the Gaggia Classic pro and love it. I have never owned a Breville, but my in laws have a Breville Barista Express that I've used on a few occasions. I don't think it pulls nearly as good a shot as my Gaggia. Considering Gaggia is quite a bit less expensive and has a such a great reputation for durability, I think it's the way to go.

Breville Espresso machines are pretty well-made (supposedly internal Italian parts and assembled in China) and are of great value due to their price points. I have the Barista Express and had an issue with the low temperature hot water at the extraction (175-180 degree average) head and Breville ended up sending me a replacement and the machine has been working "perfectly" for the past 6 months (brew temperature is around 190 degrees; makes a world of difference in freshly freshly ground and brewed beans).

Breville's customer service is top-notch and very helpful. The only "downside" of their customer service department is the wait time. When I called, 100% of the time, I received a recording where it's best to leave your phone number and calls are returned between 45 - 90 minutes. So, you'll have to be "ready" when they call back. They are quite helpful and very fair from there.

Breville refurbished machines are excellent, but with such a small price difference I'd recommend going new.

Generally speaking, every coupon I've ever gotten from BBBY specifically excludes Breville brand equipment (along with 3/4 of the rest of the store), and when browsing online Breville items have the "Excluded from coupons" tag.

I've never been able to successfully apply a 20% off coupon to a Breville item, even asking nicely.in person. They just say it's excluded and decline to apply the coupon.

Anyone care to share any tips?
I am curious, too.

Honestly, I can't justify the hefty price tag with Bambino plus. The former "the bambino" is just as good. There are only small differences.
The reviews also show not much of a difference. If you don't want to go big with the barista express, you can wait for a deal on The Bambino.

Bambino Plus does milk frothing automatically with configurable settings. On the regular bambino, it's all manual. For $200 more, not sure it's worth it but for $100 more it's easy to go for the Plus model if you will be drinking milk based drinks.

At this price level experts usually recommend the Rancilio Silvia over the Breville.

With Breville you get a lot of features and an integrated grinder. With the Silvia you get a far better built unit, better durability, and more steam power. The Breville will get you started all-in-one, but will eventually require replacement. The Silvia is buy it for life.

It's largely up to luck. When I called I asked to use the coupon and the representative said the item is excluded so I asked if there's any way around it. She said unfortunately not, but then I acted hesitant to continue the transaction and she offered to try the coupon anyways and it worked.

I waited to ask about the coupon and provided all the information for the order up until payment so maybe by that point she was more invested since she had already done the work.

I was able to apply 20% coupon on Barista touch = $719.99 by placing order over the phone. Don't try chat (Waste of time)

Exact Steps i followed.
1. Add coupon on my online account
2. Call Customer Service to place an order for pickup
3. Confirmed account info and color for the machine..
4. Rep automatically saw there is a coupon on my account and applied it without me asking.

Again could be luck. But I think its worth the shot as it rarely goes below 720 if ever.

On the order confirmation it says.
Employee Discount 20% Off Order.

It wasn't so long ago that the Barista Express could be had for around $500 (I think $480 was the lowest), so I have to say I'm having a hard time getting excited over this deal, even if it is a reasonable price right now...

If any of you guys are on the fence between the express and the pro, I highly recommend the pro. For that difference I really think the easibility of use in terms of the menu and steaming power is worth it. Not to mention a more consistent pressure around 9bars and better water distribution in the shower screen. I've had it for couple of months and it has been a pleasure to use!

Silvia is a nice machine, but I am not sure about 'for life' part. Many people who buy Silvia switch to HX or dual boiler machine within a couple of years.

Is "employee discount" different from the coupons to regular customer?

Just had Best Buy price match with 20% on top by just telling them that BBB had the same price but they were offering a 20% coupon on top. Lady got manager approval and honored price match. just be super nice to reps and they'll look out for you.

I went through these options last December and ended up with the Bambino Plus. It has the espresso machine internals of the Pro without the grinder. The integrated grinder is just ok on these. I get a better grind quality from my 1zpresso hand grinder and even at an espresso setting I can grind a double shot in about 30-45 seconds. Even if you really want the Breville grinder I'd still get it separate so you can upgrade the espresso side or the grinder side later.
