I have the Gaggia Classic pro and love it. I have never owned a Breville, but my in laws have a Breville Barista Express that I've used on a few occasions. I don't think it pulls nearly as good a shot as my Gaggia. Considering Gaggia is quite a bit less expensive and has a such a great reputation for durability, I think it's the way to go.

Breville Espresso machines are pretty well-made (supposedly internal Italian parts and assembled in China) and are of great value due to their price points. I have the Barista Express and had an issue with the low temperature hot water at the extraction (175-180 degree average) head and Breville ended up sending me a replacement and the machine has been working "perfectly" for the past 6 months (brew temperature is around 190 degrees; makes a world of difference in freshly freshly ground and brewed beans).

Breville's customer service is top-notch and very helpful. The only "downside" of their customer service department is the wait time. When I called, 100% of the time, I received a recording where it's best to leave your phone number and calls are returned between 45 - 90 minutes. So, you'll have to be "ready" when they call back. They are quite helpful and very fair from there.

Breville refurbished machines are excellent, but with such a small price difference I'd recommend going new.

Just commenting to say that I got a Bambino Plus as a present and really love it. Best espresso I've had before. Absolutely love it. We use Chaboni Oat Milk instead of dairy milk and it froths very well and is tasty. I've got two complaints, one, taking the portafilter out moves the entire machine. I wish they had suction cup feet so it would stick to the counter when removing it. You literally can't take it off without bracing the whole unit firmly. The second complaint is that I want the shots to be bigger because they're so freaking good.

With a consistent effort, I got answered by a lady, who is very nice. Although she mentioned the exclusion on Breville products, I asked her if an exception can be applied if this is a pickup order, and the coupon worked after she applied the coupon for my email address.

Btw, I feel the coupon will work if it is applied by the customer representative. And it depends on if they are willing to do it.

Thank you for sharing the deal. I was just able to call the Bed Bath and Beyond to get the additional 20% off code applied to the Barista Pro order. Smooth transaction and friendly customer service.

These are decent machines. I'm just too much of a traditionalist to purchase an espresso machine from an Australian brand. I want my Espresso machines from Europe, my cars from Germany, my Sushi from Japan, and my chicken wings from America...

Bbb phone call worked for me as well. The rep was hesitant initially, but helped out.

Should I pick these expensive China made espresso machines instead of the cheaper Italy made ones ?

The Gaggia Brera is a workhorse and makes great espresso. I've had mine for almost ten years and it still works perfectly. I bought it for daily use to complement my Pasquini Livia 90 which, while awesome, takes ~10 minutes to heat up and back when we were going into the office every day I wanted something faster and more convenient for my morning espresso.

I have both a Barista Touch Pro and Gaggia Classic. Honestly, the difference in quality once you have your grind settings right is minimal. My Gaggia doesn't see much use anymore because the convenience of a timed grinder and preselected pull length makes life so much easier. Making latte's for myself and occasionally guests isn't a chore anymore Big Grin

These aren't even semi automatic. Pass. The Mr Coffee espresso maker is better . This things a waste.
I had a Mr Coffee Barista. It's an impressive machine for the cost but it doesn't compare to any of the units here. On day 1 my only complaint was that I had to grind a lot coarser than is typical for espresso to get the Mr Coffee unit to work properly. But the frothing unit wears down over time. You can see this is fairly common in the reviews for both the Mr Coffee Barista and One Touch. By the end of year 1 we had to use a separate frother which kind of defeats the purpose, especially since the espresso machine itself struggles to put out decent espresso due to the grind limitations.

If you're happy with the Mr Coffee I'm happy for you. I think probably 90% of the population would be fine with it for at least until the frother wears out. But if you want to make a really good espresso, that's just a little outside what the Mr Coffee units are capable of. The Breville units aren't perfect either but they'll get you a lot closer to ideal albeit at a higher price.

What are your settings to use with this machine? On the pro I have, grind setting 7 and 13 sec grind, I'm only getting about 8 seconds of extraction. Starts pouring at the 8 sec mark and cuts off around 15-16 sec.
