I have the Gaggia Classic pro and love it. I have never owned a Breville, but my in laws have a Breville Barista Express that I've used on a few occasions. I don't think it pulls nearly as good a shot as my Gaggia. Considering Gaggia is quite a bit less expensive and has a such a great reputation for durability, I think it's the way to go.

Breville Espresso machines are pretty well-made (supposedly internal Italian parts and assembled in China) and are of great value due to their price points. I have the Barista Express and had an issue with the low temperature hot water at the extraction (175-180 degree average) head and Breville ended up sending me a replacement and the machine has been working "perfectly" for the past 6 months (brew temperature is around 190 degrees; makes a world of difference in freshly freshly ground and brewed beans).

Breville's customer service is top-notch and very helpful. The only "downside" of their customer service department is the wait time. When I called, 100% of the time, I received a recording where it's best to leave your phone number and calls are returned between 45 - 90 minutes. So, you'll have to be "ready" when they call back. They are quite helpful and very fair from there.

Breville refurbished machines are excellent, but with such a small price difference I'd recommend going new.

You are lucky. The fine print on BBB 20% off one item coupon says no go for Breville.

Offer excludes the following: Amazon, Arlo, AS IS, August Home, Baby Jogger®, Babyletto™, BABYZEN™, Belkin WeMo, Beyond Deal, Bliss Lights, BOB®, Breville®, Britax®... Etc
BBB Coupon works online for Breville right now, which happens every once in a while.

Bambino for $240 at BBB with coupon is the best value. The Bambino Plus for $320 is alright if you want auto milk frothing (poorer quality than manual, but you can walk around and do something else to save 40 seconds). Purchase a single wall basket (and pitcher separately for the regular Bambino), and add a smart grinder pro for $160.

The Express is older and slower - I'm not sure why it's recommended at all since the release of the Bambino Plus last year. Barista Pro is good, but I don't see the value over Bambino/Smart Grinder Pro.

I think espresso quality is exactly the same from Bambino to Barista Touch.

Just my opinions on Breville models. Spend your money however you want.

Do these espresso machines make as good mocha/latte drinks as peets / starbucks?

I bought this machine for well under $500 from Bed Bath and Beyond earlier this year. BTW, it is amazing.

Just one month ago, there was a FP deal for $509 on this very site.

This is not a slick deal at all.

Hmmm so I have a Saeco super automatic I've been using and it's been great. If I get the pro or touch, I'm wondering how much of an upgrade it will be, if any. Anyone have insight on this? With the super automatic I don't need to do anything lol just press a button. I'm not opposed to doing some work though, just saying, at the moment I don't.

I'm only looking to brew espresso. I drink over ice so I don't care about milk frothing.

Better.... If you get GOOD fresh roasted beans. Also, starbucks sucks, and peet's is only okay.

I purchased a refurbished one from the warehouse sale a couple years back. 2 years later we had an issue with it, breville had us send it in for repair and to my surprise they sent us a new one free. I figured I was going to pay $250 for repair since i thought it was out of warranty, if it even has a warranty for being refurbished/used. Extremely happy with the customer service who was responsive and quick

I could never go back to doing this manually.... just saying. Also have a Saeco superauto which is now starting to show it's age so looking to replace but after seeing how those operate I'll stick to Philips.

Why do people talk about refurbished?

I see no indication this is refurbished?

Just picked up the Baristo Pro recently. Some tips from I've what learned on various forums, videos and experimenting myself:

Most important: always use fresh roasted beans and use within 10 days of the "roasted on" date. This can heavily impact the quality of your espresso shots, from the grind to the crema.

Always run a naked shot before pulling your actual espresso shot, this makes it so that the portafilter and grouphead are warmed up and cleaned.

Weigh 18g of beans on a scale and manually grind with the built-in grinder by pressing and holding your portafilter. Do not leave beans in the hopper as they can get stale.

The default tamper can be difficult and inconsistent to use for some, so I recommend getting a calibrated tamper to get a consistent tamp every time.

These are decent machines. I'm just too much of a traditionalist to purchase an espresso machine from an Australian brand. I want my Espresso machines from Europe, my cars from Germany, my Sushi from Japan, and my chicken wings from America...
Pick me up some coffee beans while you're in Africa, since that's where they come from

I typically just use the auto setting instead of weighing out beans. Have you noticed a big difference weighing them out? Is the 18g consistent regardless of brand of beans or do you have to adjust? Thanks!
