I used to love these and have 4 sets. These exact batteries that I purchased in 2020 and at the end of 2019 stopped keeping a full charge between uses and even worse, a number of my battery powered led lighting products no longer "recognize" these batteries. It's like they aren't even there. I have the really nice OPUS charging & testing unit and despite multiple cycles of "discharge & refresh" the Amazon AA batteries (both 2000 & 2450 mAh) continue to experience these issues.

You can order excellent high capacity AA batteries from IKEA and of course, look for sales on the top brands (Fujitsu runs deals fairly often).

Bottom Line, these Amazon batteries are hit & miss and definitely do not last "forever" .... more like months to a year (although the Amazon rechargeable batteries I purchased PRIOR to 2019 are great and haven't caused me any problems).

During a Amazonbasics aaa deal, people said that they are made in China. So, these too very well could be. I bought these a couple of times in the past, but they died much sooner than my Eneloops did. I now go for quality than quantity. If you can't wait for a deal and have an Ikea nearby, consider getting some Ladda rechargeables. They are reportedly made in Japan and are relabeled Panasonic/Eneloops.

I gave them to my parents because they kept throwing away the nice eneloops i bought for them. That said they were still pretty decent

I haven't seen those low-capacity brown Laddas in quite some time -- thought they discontinued them many years ago! All the current stock of white Laddas (rated at 2450mA for AA and 900mA for AAA) are made in Japan at the same Fujitsu factory that makes Eneloops.

I believe you are right. I had the white high cap ones and they were made in China too. Also Laddas have been out of stock locally for me for nearly a year now.

Laddas are/were a great deal, but it looks like they are being discontinued. They have been out of stock on the west coast for a year, and the product page now says "Last chance to buy!".

That is the issue with these batteries -- you never know what you will get! Initially (as in years ago) they were made in Japan but since then it has been countries not known for making quality batteries.

After having to throw away 4 of these batteries that are barely a year old because they read "HIGH" on my Powerex charger, I will never buy Amazon Basics rechargeable batteries again. I tried every technique to salvage them, but they simply would not recharge. They did not see heavy use, either. I have Eneloops and other brands that are 2-4 years old that are still going strong being in regular use.

IKEA batteries have been discontinued and no longer orderable. The ones I ordered a month ago hasn't been shipped yet

Ikea is going to discontinue all alkalines and only sell rechargables in the future. I guess it is hit or miss but i ordered 8 aa two months ago and it took around 3 weeks to get here in ny. All made in japan and all test above nameplate capacity.

These gray amazons are garbage. Id look at other vendors or ebl before these.

IKEA e-commerce is shit even before COVID. Their online order processing and customer service is completely dysfunctional, phone wait time is longer than USPS
