QC issues, terrible display(awful 22ms+ response times visible ghosting 250 nit 60% sRGB) not great thermals. Generally don't recommend
I wanted to love this laptop so much. I was trying to go from a desktop to a laptop, and it seemed to be the magical box that was powerful, but portable. I understand I was unicorn hunting, but this thing had more rules than a Mogwai. You couldn't use it with a dock with the lid closed.. The air flow was designed to have the lid open. Earlier builds of this model had a problem with using a dock that would power USB-C. It would fry something inside and your machine was dead.

I'm hoping that down the road, this is the machine it was meant to be.
I have the M15 and I can't recommend Asus. Too many minor details overlooked. Occasionally the mouse will screw up and feel like there's a third finger there causing it to jitter. May be a different laptop, but Asus QC has me second thinking their stuff. Fantastic price for their hardware...

Buying an open-box laptop is just inviting being hacked. Key-loggers can easily be installed on Windows laptops and returned to the store for a potential victim to later purchase.

Make sure the laptop is factory reset and then install a good security software like Bitdefender Total Security. No issues.

What thermal issues did you have I used this same laptop for 2 months and have pretty dang good thermals for a laptop never over 70c in cod and tarkov.

A lot of these comments are ridiculous. Clicked on this just to see what people are saying, owned my since last August. Love it, I game on 3440x1440 on my ultrawide monitor. The use of RTX is a bonus and with the help of DLSS is really helpful to push up frames.

Briefly, I want to say it always impresses me that it's lightweight, portable, lasts around 5-6 hours by tweaking some settings around (reddit: how to get 10 hours battery), 6GB Vram is plenty for most games and 120hz although I use a monitor, docks but shouldn't close the lid (big deal) for ventilation, also no camera (buy a better quality one if you really need one anyway), boots in about 12-15 seconds from startup, volume can be increased with the dolby app, not the best light up keyboard which I have turned off - not a deal breaker. Overall I would say it's a good entry level laptop for new pc gamers. Knowing what I know now I would get the 3060 or 3070 GPU but that's just me. Most AAA games won't have a problem running on ultra/epic etc settings at 1080p or even 1440p with 50-80 frames.

Sorry I dont understand why people complain about the asus M15 2070 max Q. I play warzone at 85 fps with performance mode. I attach a 34 inch monitor , keyboard wireless usb, mouse wireless usb and play with xbox controller (bluetooth). I play really good and only 85 degreess C. It really its a great laptop I plan to sell it soon so I can buy a laptop with 3080 or 3070 video card.

This is the best laptop I've ever owned. I had one of the first batch of units from June 2020 and not a single issue with it as of yet. I use a Cable Matters USB C to HDMI 2.1 adapter to get 4K 120hz on my LG CX 55". Mainly play Rocket League and use it for school/office work. Highly recommend it.

had it and returned for the new m1 mac.

I only do light gaming on mobile(gwent/disco) so wasnt an issue. I just wanted a portable workhorse that can play some games and I though this was it until I saw it in store. Even with the lights off its hard to see the keys, whoever designed the keyboard and backlight is an idiot.

70c is a pipedream, means you modded it or fiddled around with settings. That's not what vast majority of users get so this isn't useful

This laptop is great for the price. Unless you are used to playing on expensive desktop setups, you won't have issues with the display. My desktop is a 3600x/2060Super with a 144hz 1ms monitor and this laptop runs the same games at the same frames 1080p high/max graphics. Even runs My Oculus Rift S at a slight performance drop.

Will 1600 get you a better laptop? Yes. Will 1100 get you a better one? No. End of story

How? The legion 5 RTX 2060 and 4800H absolutely demolishes this G14 in games/performance and is the same price, and on sale it's cheaper. The Omen 3060 is also frequently 1150$ and will also easily beat this G14 in games. There are also RTX 2070 laptops and when on sale go for 1100-1200. Also, the very idea that this gets the same frames as a 2060 super is absolutely insane. That 2060 super literally runs at 175 watts, know what the max q 2060 runs at? An anemic 60 watts. This is the equivalent of saying a 3060ti runs the same framerates as a 3090. Your desktop PC is either broken or you're lying, or blind.

The Omen if you want significantly more performance, and I mean WAY more performance.

I didn't fiddle around with anything. This is a max q card and a low watt cpu. Compared to other models.

So this anemic 60w(relative to the other 2060's) runs games easily on QHD? Also 6gb vram is a large bottleneck on RTX games, that's why it gets slaughtered in cyberpunk and legion vs 8gb VRAM cards more then usual. The 120hz isn't bad because it's 120hz, it's because if every other aspect of displays which it's terrible at like awful response times that are so bad they're found near 60hz displays. Meaning it's not even a 120hz display because the response times can't keep up lmao. This is the equivalent of saying a laptop 1660ti is all you need for all games because that's literally faster then this G14 2060 by a substantial margin. Meaning this is BS as these 3000 series cards must be rather meaningless if a 1660ti has no struggles and so are all the 2070's and 115w 2060's from last gen.

Yes, in a small 14" model with lackluster cooling. No review ever got anywhere near your thermals, this unit was known for poor thermals.

I had this one for a few months but ended up selling it later and getting the new 2021 G15 instead (which I'm incredibly happy with thus far). The pros for me were the slim and very lightweight feel. I couldn't believe the power it packed. The display was also great! The keyboard lighting annoyed me though cause the backlight and keyboard are white. Cons were that it got super hot during gaming events, like really hot. The screen was also a bit too tiny for me. Personally, I would recommend but if you can spare a couple hundred more, definitely go for the G15.
