There was a lengthy thread about this system just recently.

For those who are curious, the CPU in this is very close to the 5800X in performance (in other words, it's a monster), however the motherboard and power supply are proprietary (in physical shape and connectors), so video card upgrade options are extremely limited.

To add insult to injury, one user reported that the motherboard in this also does NOT support ANY older AMD CPUs, so if you are considering buying one of these with the intent of swapping in a different CPU to resell the PC and then using the 5700G in a real gaming system (because it alone is worth $400+), there is no point, because this HP will not work with anything but a 5x00G series processor. So, you'd be stuck with a $550 PC with no processor, that requires a processor that cannot be purchased at retail. Might as well just buy the 5800X or 5600X from the start.

I can't think of any possible way to use this system to the full potential of the extremely powerful CPU without being hindered by something that cannot be upgraded.

Don't fall for these deliberately neutered PCs desktop PCs that can't be maintained\upgraded in the long run. This way of designing computers is bad for enthusiasts, consumers and the environment. This is planned obsolescence at its worst.

If someone figures out a way to use an older Ryzen APU in one of these (updated\hacked BIOS, etc.), the story changes quite a bit, but the system itself offers almost no upgrade path for those interested in games.

Yes, there's a slot and connector for a 2.5" or 3.5" HDD. The system comes with the OS on a mini PCIE NVME drive and it has a slim DVD drive.

The Ryzen 5700g APU has only been out for maybe a month or 2. This whole deal is the CPU basically and a minimal system built around it.

Base on the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fkv5bNrGSI above from djc6, this PC was sold for $550 since 11/2020 on OD. I can't see how is it a slick deal here?

Yes, there is. There is total 3 SATA Ports and one is being used by the ODD. You can probably add one 3.5" or two 2.5" Drives.

Some info from the last thread:

Quote from IndigoLadybug704 :
The actual memory stick inside is Samsung M378A2G43AB3-CWE.
Max Ram = 64 GB

Quote from famewolf :
Crucial's memory matcher DOES offer 32gb sticks for THIS model. https://www.crucial.com/compatibl...-tp01-2066

Quote from AbhishekA1442 :
Purchased and confirmed as follows:

180 watt Gold Plus PSU
Samsung 16GB 1Rx8 3200 MHz RAM 1 stick
Kioxia kbg40znv256g NVME SSD 256gb

Expansion
1 3.5/2.5" HDD/SSD with SATA
1 RAM slot open
I'm pretty sure that covers all the important questions from last time.

Sadly, still not available within 100 miles of me. Interestingly, you can order it for delivery this time (when available)... Tempting...

With a 180w power supply? 😀. Or does this use a standard replaceable PS?

How much are you losing with 1 Ram stick when it is a dual channel system?

This might be eligble for 15% cash back on the Rak for their Big Give promo. Double check the fine print but it does say Office Depot / OfficeMax. That would make it slick for sure.
