I thought gift cards were often not including in cashback programs.
American Express is aggressively clawing back gc purchases in recent years (which is why you can't used Blue Cash Preferred) and US Bank will outright cancel your card. But that isn't an issue (at least at the moment) with Citi, Chase and Discover. As an example, I just purchased about $6,000 with of gift cards with Chase.
Now, Citi Double Cash changed their terms to explicitly prohibit cash back on gc (to cover their bases I'm sure, since I haven't not gotten the cash back yet). I don't see same terms on this one… yet. Being so new, we'll find out in a mouth or so.
I currently have citi aa platinum card. Balance is $195, limit 2k. I just clicked for limit increase and was denied. Should I even try for this card? Score average of about 710 and 4/24.
Hey folks please check in at your bank for this offer. For doing it in house, they gave me $300 back. California is the state. They have this sheet behijd the desk pushing this promo then you sit with a personal banker. Approved for $2000 limit. Credit score : 754
I have been looking for a 2% card with a bonus- there do not appear to be any
I will probably do this one because I will need a hot water heater soon and this will provide 5% up to $500
And I can spend $750 without much problem
How the heck would they know if we buy gift cards at a grocery store or something anyway

So it's basically they'll determine where you spent the most cash as in grocery/gas/streaming service and will get the 5% on that category meanwhile the rest of those categories will yield 1%?
interesting concept. Does anyone here know of any other Citi cards that have a signup offer? I want to go for the double cash as it's 2% straight up on everything -
Did anyone receive a cash advance/loan from your credit limit offer from Citi in the past year or so?

I finally applied- it did not ask employer- Immediate approval- I got a very low limit but I will never spend even 20% of the $4800
I will spend $750 in the first 90 days though- Probably $500 at Lowes for a water heater with the rest paid by gift cards from discover cashback
I put income of $50k by the way
It says 7-10 days
Its offering me a virtual card with up to 10% of my limit which would be $480 but it says a $500 minimum which does not make sense
Use up to 10% (subject to a minimum of $500 and a maximum of $1,000) of your credit limit for the next 10 days while you wait to receive your new credit card in the mail

I feel AMEX is a perpetuated rumor based on a small amount of heavy abusers, because nobody repeating it ever has any direct experience with it happening. And those in these forums who claim they do never respond with any details. This ends up deterring the average joes from buying even a $100 GC due to the fear mongering, but the real abusers will already know their way around it.
Does citi exclude online gift card purchases for the minimum spend? There is an offer on giftcards.com. I wonder if I can do that and meet most of my spend?
Amex is know to exclude such purchases.

By the way, anyone knows which bureau Citi pulls the credit report from?
