hi, can this be added on top of the current 256 SSD in the Dell G5 system that is currently selling for $580? Will it be a smooth recognition of this added SSD? Any help will be appreciated.
Is this is the same:https://www.samsung.com/us/comput...8v500b-am/
? If so why are the read/write speeds slower at Samsung's website?

I might be asking the question wrong, but when would you hit the speed wall because there is no dram?

Files over 500gb?

Sounds like this is not better than my current 256gb Intel 760p drive I use for my OS?

Ok got ya so you only know which one don't have dram. I'm assuming double the price and you get the dram. So 120$ for 500gb

FYI, Here is a good kit for M.2 mounting screws as it doesn't come with one. Pretty good size variety for only 5 bucks!

In case anyone else gets tricked like I did, this drive is basically an entry level performance unit, dramless. Samsung is piggybacking off the naming scheme reputation to hock these basic drives to unwitting consumers.

This. The Samsung 980 drive is in the budget class, unlike its big brothers. This is DRAM-less and uses HMB instead.

Remember when a 500GB SSD was a lot? Now it's on the entry level Xbox Series S.

That doesn't take much available memory (pun intended) to recall.
I remember when 40MB was a lot. 286 and 386 days.

On a side-note. My heart is human... My blood is boiling... My brain IBM. You're welcome for the earworm I just shared.
