I have MSI X570 Tomahawk, and it has been but a disappointment so far. Very buggy and unstable.
IMHO, If you are willing to pay more than 300$ for motherboard itself, i strongly recommend ASUS ROG STRIX or ROG Crosshair VIII Hero X570 board. But it will be more than enough if you can snag one of MSI X570 Tomahawk, you can still save some money and provide almost similar experience. There can be a lot of debate whether you should not spend too much money on the motherboard itself, but there is a reason so many people have chosen MSI X570 Tomahawk. It will not have fancy RGB on the ROG boards, but will have pretty good headroom for overclocking (If you need any) and any troubleshooting. Enjoy your shopping!
Just buy a cheap x570 board. People spend way to much on motherboards.

I don't have any specific recs right now. But you can get a great board for $200. Unless you need the extra pcie 4 speed things aside from one gpu and one m.2, get a b550 board over x570 to save $.

I got an asus b550 rog gaming itx board and it's a champ with memory speeds.

I recently recommended this board for a friend's 5600x build and it went quite well, yea no need for a $300 motherboard imo:

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-TUF-X570-Plus-Motherboard-Lighting/dp/B07SXFK1TP/

$14 more if you want the onboard wifi:

Is that X570 (Godlike) one even worth the extra $? That's the one I was looking at. It's like two or three times the price of the Tomahawk though, lolā€‹

So much salty anecdotal non-sense in forums these days, for my peers I apologize. I bought this processor in May and my research led me to the ASRock X570 PG VELOCITA AM4 AMD X570 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard. Though the performance differences between boards is relatively small, this board was always at or near the top in terms of performance. In my opinion though, features generally trump performance hair-splitting in motherboard selection. Which is why I chose this motherboard which was recently released compared to many other boards at the time and had the newest support for many features including audio chipset, number of ports, pcie slots, nvme slots, sata ports, newest wifi 6 chipset, Bluetooth 5.1, etc. The only thing I can knock it for but non of the boards had it at the time is the lack wifi 6E and I haven't looked to see if they have dropped yet. I just use gigabit Ethernet though in full disclosure and wouldn't use it much any way. It has been rock solid in the last month and a half, I have ran ASRock for the better part of post 2010's and have never had an issue, great price/feature/performance which is a lot of the time at the top of the stack.

I have a ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ax and a 5900X and it has been rock solid. I had a 5600X and no issues with that either. Both CPUs run in boost constantly, so I haven't bothered with any OC.

Thoughts on upgrading from 3900x to 5900x for a Premiere/Photoshop editing system? I am perfectly happy with my setup but I'm thinking I could get $300- 350 for my 3900x and pick up the 5900 for ~$600 after tax. I guess I would need to buy a new cpu cooler as well.... Probably not worth it now that i'm thinking about it. Roughly a $350-$400 upgrade for ~15-20% gains?
