Paid $549 for mine and have nothing but good things to say. Runs fast, many cores, runs cool. That last is very important to me. I'll take a little less raw speed over a blow dryer any day.

Even under prime 95 on a 280mm aio it is very manageable and just fine to sit next to.

Using this with a cheap vetroo v5 cooler. After I replaced 120mm fan with a noctua, temps stay below 80. Usually 68 - 75 stock clocks during cinebench r24 multi.

Using a b550m motherboard with ddr4 and a 3060ti (pcie4.0) it's a nice little system!

Very happy with mine too and am using it right now... I was pretty happy when the price finally came down to $549 and I grabbed one (back in June of 2021), but I had to wait awhile for that because I wasn't going to give a bunch of money to scalpers selling these for a lot more than the retail price.

Great deal if you already have a motherboard that can take this chip and you want to upgrade.

Any suggestions for coolers? Ideally for under $100.

Thermalright Peerless Assassin and phantom spirit are probably the best air coolers out now.

I just recently updated my bios on my 5+ year old B350 mobo. Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 2600x. Very happy with it. I know mine is PCI 3 but it doubled single core performance and about tripled multi core performance - and I'm running in eco mode.

For general gaming would this be a better choice than a 5600x? Its more than twice the price, not quite sure if the value is there.
