After their scummy business practice of bundling, never buying from Newegg again.

Decent price, but I am going to guess its because it was a highly demanded cpu many months ago and now not many people need overpriced cpus anymore so they probably have a huge supply they cant sell because people stopped buying them so are forced to drop prices.

Its only $30 off anyways. This should have been a $200-250 cpu anyways.

New to AMD. which model should I buy for my total build budget to be like $900. This one? Plan on building it for diablo 2 resurrected.
You're going to want to purchase your graphics card first, then fill in your budget with the remaining components. The 5600x is a solid choice at this price, but more than needed to play that game. The graphics card market is rough right now (still), so I will nail that down first.

I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 5 1400

I have this motherboard: https://www.asus.com/motherboards...Desk_BIOS/

Does it look like it has the right firmware available for me to run this 5600x?
The answer was literally on that page (well, the tab next to it https://www.asus.com/motherboards...pDesk_CPU/ ) and the answer is no. OTOH, it does look like it can be upgraded to a 3700, and that was also on sale here: https://slickdeals.net/f/15170899-amd-ryzen-7-3700x-8-core-3-6-ghz-4-4-ghz-max-boost-65w-desktop-processor-264-99?v=1&src=SiteSearch for $265.

You dont need a beast of a cpu to play Diablo2...... As another person stated, you should nail down the graphics card first if you need one. Those are definitely harder to get.

I dont see how you can buy a $300 cpu with a total build budget of $900 though. Any decent graphics card will run you easy $500 minimum these days so... Even a $200 cpu with a $500 gpu is $700 out of the $900 budget. You need more money.

5600x beats the 3600 by very little and when compared to price per performance comparisons, the 3600 takes the prize in every area...

And userbenchmark has fairly accurate benchmark comparisons and often mimic or are near the more professional sites such as techspot, wepc, anantech, tomshardware, etc.

I found techspots in-depth comparisons of the 5600x and the 3600 shocking...because there was simply not that much of a difference in many of the games they bench-marked...and I am referring specifically to comparisons that did not include the 3090 GPU, but rather more mid range GPU cards...

https://www.techspot.com/review/2...00-versus/

I really wanted to upgrade to this 5600x, but after reading various benchmarks from various sites, it is totally obvious that at the $270 price, the 5600x is simply not worth it!

Shhhhhhhh, the Ryzen fanboy mafia will come for you.

I didn't say this was good value. You said "Heck, my 3600 is 9% faster than this 5600X in Fortnite, my favorite game!". I said the 3600 beats the 5600x in zero situations, which is true. Nothing against the 3600. It's a great chip. I wouldn't upgrade from it unless I was building a high end rig.

If you've got 2 weeks to wait, I'd see if the Ryzen 5600G ($260) and 5700G ($350) actually become available for purchase on 8/5. They should be 1050/1050ti level onboard graphics, which will run D2:R somewhere between low and medium settings depending on the resolution. As long as you get a good motherboard you can keep your PCIe 16x slot open in case you do stumble upon a newer GPU in the future, but you won't have to waste money on a 1050ti/1660 level GPU just to throw it out in a year when you upgrade.

Don't feel bad - the only reason I knew where to look was that I own the B450 version of that exact board as my gaming rig. :-)

Newegg also has Ryzen 3700X for $265 after promo code
I have a chart to see which of the Ryzens are in the "good deal" range compared to other Ryzen CPUs right now. Most have been much cheaper (not the 5xxx line), but supply has been tight so we have to decide. I use Passmarks / $

Right now (assuming my prices are correct still), Ryzen 3300x (Adorama), 3600(Microcenter), 3700x(newegg) are the best for performance per $.
The worst are: 3400g, 3600x and 3600xt, 5800x
Generally, the best CPU+MB deals come from Microcenter or buying a 2 yr old setup from a local mom-pop computer repair shop.

The reason I want Ryzen is that multiple generations use the AM4 socket and I don't have to get new RAM and new MB for a new CPU upgrade. Wish Intel would learn that.

of course ill play more games like Dota 2, PoE 2 or any future Blizzard games but i dont need the latest and greatest since not sure if I will even play it on a 4k monitor haha. but i want something pretty decent. I guess i have to wait for a GPU to be on sale first then build around that or just get a pre build.

For those games you could literally use a 5-6 year old CPU.

I will stick with my trusty AMD 3600 CPU that I purchased last year for $150. This 5600X at $270 is not worth the small increase in speed...

Heck, my 3600 is 9% faster than this 5600X in Fortnite, my favorite game!

5600X at $270=FAIL! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Com...4084vs4040

Oh, regarding NewEgg haters: I have saved over $15,000 over the years from NewEgg just from the rebates alone and they have treated me well on most occasions.

NewEgg haters = ignorance
The issue is the 3600 is about 260 right now. So in comparison, this is a good deal, and cheaper than it has been. But prices are on the decline.

Up until like a week ago, these showed up as 269 on pcpartpicker every time I've looked for seems like months. They raise the price $20 for a week then offer a $20 off code and now it's a hot deal?
