This is the best deal I've seen so far on this MacBook Air M1. This comes out to be $50 cheaper than those that used the $150 off coupon from Costco back in April.

I was wondering if anyone can help me. My daughter has wanted a Mac the last few years mainly because it's the "In thing" especially for college students. Being a single mom it wasnt really something I could splurge on. Well things have changed. Promotion and paid my car off this year. I bought her an HP for 350.00 during Covid to finish her Senior year once they were sent home for the remainder of the school year. She used it for her first (2) semesters of college and it's crap. I'd like to get her something better for college this year. But now she's hesitant about the Mac lol. She has
some slight learning disabilities and gets overwhelmed very easily. Shes is now worried that trying to convert to Mac operating systems may be to overwhelming for her because she's only ever used windows. Does anyone have a suggestion of a really good quality windows laptop or should we try out the Mac? I've been asking everyone I know the past year and have gotten no solid advise. School starts in a few weeks and I want to get her something soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I tutored in college 10-15 years ago and worked with students with LD (they received free tutoring), and my cousin has them and switched from PC to Mac in college herself a few years ago. I don't think Mac use by students is an "in thing," as even when I was in school, more students had Macs than PCs.

The only Windows option in this price range that has remotely the same hardware quality of a Mac is the Microsoft Surface line, but Windows is still not as stable as MacOS. I'd go with the Mac, as there will be plenty of other students with them to help her. Once she learns those few differences between Macs and Windows PCs, Macs are a lot easier to use. Also, while it may be frustrating, just being real, it's better she learns as much as she can while she's young and has the neuroplasticity, as who knows what a future employer might be using. They only need to make reasonable accommodations for her, and using a different OS than they do for everyone else might not be reasonable.

If she can make it in college classes, she can learn how to use a Mac. My mother did in her late 50s when her job switched from PCs to Macs, and she was never technically-minded. She now gets my old Macs when I'm done with them, and I rarely have to give her any tech support. Vs when she had PCs/Windows, it was at least a monthly virus or Windows update mess.

I will wait until the air at least gets a 1080P camera. It is horrible they are still using 720P in such a nice machine. During Covid it has been even more important to do video calls and trying on your computer with a 720P camera is just pitiful. I have a 2019 13 inch Macbook Pro whose battery life sucks(3-4) hours so a macbook air is definitely enticing but I will hold off until a new one with better camera is released.

I waited on chat about 30 mins to get a price match..only to be immediately disconnected. Went online to look at rebuying and saw an open box "excellent" silver for 639$ free shipping. Seems like a great deal?! i'll just return my new one now.
I saw that too. Added to cart and tried checking out but it became OOS.

Were you able to get it?

Yeah it's really dumb.

I have one at the $800 price waiting for in store pick up at one store. I ordered another for pick up at a different store at the $750 price.

I was thinking of returning the $800 one as soon as I picked it up but couldn't I just wait for the order to cancel itself?
Yes, it will cancel automatically if you don't pick it up.

Contacted Amazon Chat service regarding this offer. They surprisingly gave $100 credit to match the offer. Used prime card to get 5% additional. Smilie

Maybe someone has mentioned this already. But this is most likely in direct response to apples education discount with the AirPod. $900-$150(airpod) is around $750. Right before school starts is a good time to get people to buy new computers.

This is actually a bad thing, if businesses offer the convenience and the benefit of just returning something you bought and didn't like for any reason. Any low practice like this will result in a bad shopping experience. A lot of companies are starting to put a restocking fee on products that barely cost any money
Not a bad thing if they were able to price match/adjust the price for our purchase. I bought one for $899 couple of days back and asked for adjustment, they don't and I have to return and rebuy in that case

I remember you. I had the same feelings about my 2016 Mac Air. Now I'm tempted as well on this deal.
