I think that's one of the most generic technology statements I've seen today. New CPUs will always be coming out and the prices of old ones will always drop.

Zen 4 wont launch till late Q3-Q4 2022. AMD is lowering prices because Intel 12th gen (Alder Lake) with DDR5 and pcie 5.0 launches in October, and is leaked to perform 20% better in single thread and 10% better in multithread over similar AMD parts, like the 12900k>5950x, even in MT, performance from credible leakers and Intels architectural disclosures.

This is why AMD are doing a limited (expensive) Zen 3D launch in Q1 (production in December, launch in Q1), because they need a stopgap as Zen 4 got delayed, and they can only cut Zen 3 prices so much.

Tempting. Ugh. I bought two laptops just last month (that Lenovo Nano and Dell G15) hoping that this would be enough for all types of usage but the availability of those CPUs is so tempting, even for just building another new build, with closed loop water cooling. I think I might give up and buy once GPU will become available at reasonable prices

Sales on CPUs are the norm. Limited stock and a crazy secondary markets aren't. Glad the CPU market is starting to settle down a bit.

P.S., this is an amazing CPU. Had a 5600X at launch and switched to a 5900X a few months ago. Runs at 4+Ghz boost all the time, air cooled, before overclocking or undervolting. That being said, if you don't do a lot of multithreaded CPU work, get the 5600X.
