Has anybody used this and the 16 gallon rigid 6.5HP NXT that was just on sale for $99 (which is still within the return window for me) who can shed some light on a comparison? The 6.5 has the blower which I don't really care about, but wondering if the extra 1.5HP and any other differentiating features are worth the additional $50? Thanks in advance

I picked one up last week. It's huge! And very loud... It seems to work well and a great deal at $50. It was a huge pain to put together, the casters snap into the bases with so much force I had to use my bench vise. There's no way they were going in by hand. Hopefully mine was a bad one or they'll have a lot of returns I imagine.

Picked one up yesterday afternoon at my store (#2825) and paired it with the $25 car detail kit. Should make for a good combination of an extra hose and attachments. Seems like good value.

It's definitely big - eyeballing it with the Craftsman you linked it's probably the same width/depth but a little taller since it's a 16gal vs 12.

I didn't need a 16gal shop vac but I figured that for a price of $50 that I might as well put up with the inconvenience of the size for what I'm getting since it should (hopefully) last me forever

The motor on my Shop Vac SL14-600 ("6HP) just burned out. I plan to fix it, but in the meantime I wanted something more portable, so I bought the 4 gallon, "5HP" Ridgid vacuum.

Assuming the 4 gallon uses the same "5HP" motor as in the $49 16 gallon unit, then it's *significantly* weaker than my Shop Vac. I would wait for the "6.5HP" Ridgid vacuum if you can.

Just picked one up. They weren't by the other shop vacs so an employee found one in the above storage for me. On the way to checkout, I saw several on the floor near the front by our store's Christmas lights.
