how much was your plasma? what size? and adjust for inflation? how much was your TCL?
i have 30 inch sony back in 1990 that weight over 200 lbs. adjust for inflation, it cost 8000 dollar today. i am not buying any 30 inch tv today for 8000 dollars.
the market has spoken, and has always been that consumer want good enough product at low enough cost. it has little to do with whether it is made or the brand. you can make excellent product cost astronautical amount of price, regardless of where it is assembled.
if the market demand ultra reliable, ultra high end TVs. companies will make them, except that's not the case.

My 65 inch Vizio P65-E1 from Costco, only 3 yrs and 2 weeks old just crapped out with a bad TV panel. Vizio said it was beyond economic repair. Thankfully I purchased with Costco Citi card and it's in their claims right now.
Haven't heard of any Hisense TV panels dying that early yet.

Highly rated on Rtings.com

I did, both (original and replacement) died barely past 3 years (that's both combined). I love Costcos warranty, which is the only way I buy TVs nowadays. No idea how efficient or cooperative Amazon or Best Buy claims systems are but there's no way I'd ever buy a TV without these warranties.
I need a 65/75 replacement bc the replacement just died after 8 months - so that's why this popped up in my email.
rtings.com loves the U6G, but they only tested one TV in one panel size (65" U6G, 55" TU7000), with the assumption that all the other size panels perform the same.
CR tested multiple units of different sizes, and showed that different panel sizes have different qualities, even when they're all the same model and type (VA).
In 75", CR rated the Samsung significantly higher. That size in the TU7000 also rated better than the smaller TU7000 sizes (all are VA).
User reviews on BB are higher for the TU7000's than the U6G's. And almost all TVs have a 7 to 10% unhappy user population, some due to physical damage and some due to bad panels.
I've got a feeling I'm going to end up buying both and lugging one back to the store after a side-by-side comparison in my home with their settings configured properly.
