Please don't forget that you don't have to justify your usage to the ignorant people in every hard drive thread that ask "What will people use all of that space for?", which just opens the door for posts that don't contribute and consist of bragging. It gets old.

I record my gaming videos but rarely put it on YouTube. I think i have over 30tb of gaming videos i recorded over 15 years.

Start uploading them and make that money 💰 🤑. I got about 2 14TB drives full of videos and don't plan to stop. The money is pretty good right now 😉.

For some reason today's generation likes to watch others play video games and comments. I've tried a few times and I'm bored within a few minutes. Build up your subscribers to get money from advertisers and sponsors.

Gaming channels are really easy to do. You just need to be likeable, talk a lot, and be near the very best of your chosen game. Also pick a very popular game where other content creators are already there. You can live stream 2-3 times per a week and get fan donations too. I don't do Gaming Channels but I do watch two that are very popular.

recycle an old hard drive, flash drive, sd card, etc at bestbuy store you can get a 15% code that stacks on top of sale price. I got a few $170 14TBs myself.
So how exactly does the coupon work? I go into best buy, give them a drive, they give me a coupon. Do I have to use it right then, or is it good for awhile? If it can be used later, can it be used online or in-store only?

How about performance though?

Not 100% percent but heard the HDD gets better with these easystore drives as you go up the GB ladder.
That's the bit where you'll get some traction and arguments (and really only with those removing the drives from the cases....) But for the target market of external drives most people won't use them as "work" drives (re-encoding / editing videos etc) they're just where they store their assorted large files (plex libraries and torrents for prospectively naughty examples medical image files and drone footage for non naughty exanples; or for backup purposes where letting it run during the off hours isn't a big deal. Here super fast performance isn't needed. I do occasional remuxing on my 14TBs and it works fine for my needs on a 10th gen i5 where redoing a 2hr+ 15GB mkv to add a couple of audio tracks only takes a handful of minutes with mkvtoolnix as it's largely CPU based. Basically for anyone that *really* needs performance they'd be strongly advised to just look at the SSD options and accept the limited (TBW) lifespan as the cost of doing business, spinning disks in whatever form aren't really for them anymore. Copying from one new 14TB drive to one from last year along the same bus with programs including chrome open for large (17GB) file bounced from 140-200 with the most common number being 15xMB/sec until the end where it kept pegging 200 which is pretty decent to me. Mind you some people on redditt report *very* slow speeds from their 14s so like everything else YMMV. ( https://www.reddit.com/r/DataHoar...te_speeds/ )

Connect it to a home network and it's a secondary storage for your family's pics from their mobile phones. Yes our pics are saved to the cloud but can never be too careful having a 2nd place store them to. Anytime our phones connect to our home wifi, the pics are auto uploaded to the drive.
