I bought this phone from Walmart around Thanksgiving for $175. I activated the phone yesterday on the $30 a month prepaid plan. My service never got activated for 24 hours. I called ATT and was told that Walmart shipped these items without marking them as 'sold' and ATT will not activate service. I was asked to return the phone for a refund or send in the receipt to ATT showing the item was purchased from Walmart. ATT says there are thousands of requests for receipt verification and is taking a week. I needed this phone urgently today and I plan to return it.
You've just described a Early Termination Fee with declining severity the longer you've gone through your contract... Bill credits are as bad if not worse than old-style contracts by any other name and every carrier is happy to shackle you to one. The bonus to them is suckers can't tell and morons on T-Mobile will happily shill for them while getting screwed by their (un)carrier.
Not sure how its the same as an ETF if you will be getting the device in the end?
