This is a great price for most people it should work great.
This is 100% incorrect.
I own this model and the micro SD slot is to the left of the headphone/microphone jack on the left hand side.
Check the pictures here:

My bloated desktop Linux OS is using 11G now - not including the 4.1G swap area.
If ChromeOS supported NFS, I might not need to wipe it.
The size and display make this a deal.
Chromebook Spin 713 CP713-2W-3311 seems to be the exact model for comparisons elsewhere. Looks to be heavy at 3.2 lbs.
I need to look up whether this specific model can have the firmware replaced, SSD replaced and perhaps add another RAM stick. I'm not a fan of eMMC storage.
Had a Toshiba 2015 13in chromebook that was under 2lbs with 10 hrs of battery. Beautiful, light, machine, also a Core i3. 15in is too large. 11in is too small. At least for me and my eyes. Swore I'd never get any laptop without 8G of RAM again. 4G is just a little too tight, especially with iGPU stealing RAM for video needs.
Seems a full UEFI is supported. Acer Chromebook Spin 713 (CP713-2W) KLED using CR50 firmware. This will prevent ChromeOS from being reloaded. I don't know what this specific model uses to write protect the firmware - my very old Acer had a write protect screw that had to be removed with a scratch-off area around the screw to make the electrical connection to allow writing to the firmware.

I tried the mrchomebox.tech firmware and installed XUbuntu. Keyboard worked but no backlighting. Touchpad worked too but not like on ChromeOS and was buggy. Eventually I reinstalled ChromeOS because of things not working as good as they do on ChromeOS. You have to use the battery method to turn off write protect.
If they spend their time on the web then it will be great. They have Android app support. It's great with simplicity for kids or grandparents, but also streamlined for it's main purpose as a portal to the web.
While the 4GB is on the lower side, this is still plenty competent without too many tabs/multitasking and has a great keyboard and screen. Speakers are pretty weak FYI
The model he replaced with an NVME uses a SATA drive, not soldered in eMMC.
I've taken this 64GB one apart to replace the thermal paste and the NVME connector is not soldered on. The pads are there, though.

A micro SD card slot is present, but I use a low profile USB 3.1 drive. It's much faster.

That's my point, this is an excellent deal compared to the newer model. Is the new one worth two of these? Yes and no depending of the situation, the $529 is an excellent choice if you need to do more work since is better equipped, no it's not worth 2 of these if $279 was the regular price but it is not.
