I think the culprit is that many of the Legion 5 Pro's ship with slower RAM. If you're not one of the lucky ones that get the faster RAM, you'd have to spend an extra $100 or so to buy the faster RAM (and maybe sell the slower RAM to offset some of that cost).
I'm on the fence between the two, but am leaning towards the ASUS because it is much lighter, doesn't have that giant power brick, performs great and the keyboard and touchpad both have gotten great reviews. The L5Pro has the nicer screen (which is also 16:10, a big plus for me), but I don't like the keyboard layout with the numpad and the off-center touch pad, as ergonomics are very important to me. The L5Pro is also very big and unwieldy. It does have a webcam which the G15 doesn't but it's only 720P so I'd probably get an external 1080p cam anyway. Ah, decisions, decisions!
Overall I like it. Though I did upgrade the max TDP of the 3070 to 90w-105w from stock 80w-100w. There is a Reddit post that shows you how to change, from my best understanding, the firmware for the GPU. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
You could go higher in TDP, but the other's firmware they suggested did not appear to support USB-C DP (which is what I use). Ironically I haven't played any games yet after doing this lol.

This laptop or the legion 5 pro (ryzen7 5800, 32gb ram, rtx 3070, 1 tb ssd)? Price is the same so it really comes down to (ryzen 9 + 16 gb ram) vs. (Ryzen 7 + 32 gb ram)

However, what is holding me is that I can get double the ram with legion 5 at the same exact price.. but the legion 5 has a ryzen 7 5800 in comparison to G15's ryzen 9. Not sure if the processor will offset the additional ram or not. Honestly don't know what to do here
