5400 RPM class does not mean it spins at 5400 RPM. It means the performance is at least as good as a standard 5400 RPM drive. WD drives routinely beat out competitive benchmarks because they are in the 5400 "class" but spin faster.
One potential solution if you have a good router is to just plug a USB drive into it and share the drive over the LAN.
