You'll love it... My Akorn is about 6-7 years old and barely hanging on. I've been waiting for a "smoking" deal on another kamado 😂

For those unaware, this (Kamado Joe Classic I) ships on a pallet to your door (280lbs). If you're upstairs, prepare for some heavy lifting, piece by piece because the freight company that ships these don't move it up stairs. They also don't contact you prior to delivery so you may very well just have this outside your house randomly one day.

Source: I lived this annoyance when the price was $549.

Has anyone ordered one of these from Walmart? Curious about delivery procedures. Hoping they have a fork lift or lift gate to get to ground level. It's way too heavy for standard parcel shipping.

I had the Joe Jr delivered from Walmart last year, they have a lift gate and brought the pallet up and set it in my garage. From there I put it on a dolly and wheeled it around to the back patio.

I have an Akorn Jr and I like it but I can't control the temperature on it for smoking a butt. It climbs to 350-400 and won't come back down and it needs to be constantly monitored. I almost ruined a cook one time because I closed all the vents for too long and the fire went out. I'm hoping this is much better at temp control. I have an XL BGE already so i'm not worried about the size of the Joe Jr, just need something portable I can't take with me on vacation or go camping to cook dinners.

I had the Akorn by Chargrill, it has a steel egg liner, and this is ceramic. You will be able to roll at 190 or anything low and slow with kamado. I immediately noticed the control when I was done cooking, on the Kamado I could close it down, starve it from air and kill 500 degree burn, in about an hour or so and the cover. On the Akorn I had to let it burn off…all night. Couldn't cover until morning. I think the Akorn is not air tight.

Just price matched at Lowes . Free shipping and assembly. Had to call back a second time because Lowe's said that they wouldn't price match due to my local store not having any in stock and Walmart said it wouldn't arrive until Dec 3rd....but the second time I called everything went seamlessly. We'll see if they cancel my order
