Simply not true. It is simply not uncommon for people to want 40 or more tabs open and thus the need for more RAM. Especially if you use a few apps as well.

I am constantly near 8GB of usage and the GPU uses 2GB so I only have 6GB usable if I only had 8GB in total. Since I have 16 no problem. Before it would take some time to switch tabs now it happens in an instant. I only had 8GB to begin with. I like to have music tabs open in a second window to make it quick to go to them. I could not do that with 8GB of RAM. It would slow it down too much.

I may decide to buy this but I will upgrade it if I do.

I tried to get the Gateway I5 from VIP outlet but they canceled the order.

I just looked up my old Acer, Acer Aspire V15 Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 4K Ultra going on 5YRS now and no problems. I did upgrade to SSD and it runs constantly 24/7 as Plex server. Nice 4K screen but it's docked as HTPC so rarely open the lid.

the empty M.2 slot always comes handy. I got a Swift 3 for around the same price a while ago, however RAM can be upgraded in this model, which is a plus.
eBay has the deal at the same price.. $450 (refurbished w/ 2 yr warranty)
