DWS779 is on sale with free stand and Lowes. Didn't see this advertised anywhere but online it says free gift and when you add to cart the miter saw stand is added. Saw is on sale elsewhere for $399 by itself but seem like a good deal with stand. It's been cheaper in the past but haven't seen many deals this year.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/DEWALT-1...1000145735

Update - for those who may only need the saw, Home Depot says they will have it for $299. This is what a customer service rep told me when I asked if they would price match Lowes, which at least this rep wouldn't do.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Bought this last year on BF - what a great saw! I recommend doing the laser light upgrade:

https://www.mmtoolparts.com/store...kit-dewalt
Just throwing this out there... bought this same deal last year for $379... and it made me leave Dewalt for good.

I had owned a DWS779 for many years, and it was an amazing SCMS. And last year when I seen the sale, I jumped on it.

Little did I know how much Dewalt had cheapened the saw from the 779 of the past. Many of the aspects that made it a "DWS780 Without the Light" were gone. So many things that made it great...

(Copy/paste to save time)
1. Saw now only cuts 13.75" wide not 16" as advertised (huge change)
2. Kerf plate is no longer split and cannot be adjusted
3. They removed a few bevel stops.
4. There is no more slide lock lever.
5. The motor itself bogs down quickly compared to the older versions. This is straining the motor, and in turn, shortening it's life span.

They took a once amazing saw that was the best value in SCMS, and turned it into a Yellow Craftsman Sliding Compound Miter Saw.

So be forewarned... this will be more of a DWS778.9. And it is not a very good deal at this price, for this saw.

Look into the Makita and Bosch. I love the Bosch now, and find it better than the DWS780. (I only with the Newer Cordless Bosch had the option of being battery powered, and corded. I'd have bought that one instead if it came with both options.)
This will get down voted but I have TWO of these as well as a comparable Metabo (I run a woodshop) and I would use the Metabo over my 779s every time. I have DeWalt everything in the shop but the 779s are underwhelming IMO.

Said it was out of stock for shipping so I did pickup at store in Clearwater Florida. $399 with free gift which auto added the stand in cart at checkout.

edit: Tried to do some checking and it appears the $399 may be a local price? On my main lowes page it says $399 but if I change delivery to shipped, it says out of stock and changes the price to $449 when it bumps me back to checkout. However, if I leave it for store pickup or curbside it allows me to checkout at the $399 price.

Tried to be sneaky and chose shipping at checkout. It bumps it up to $449 like you said. Bummer

I have a DW779 with the light kit added and have had a Metabo 10" slider in the past.
The Metabo was weak, for my purpose, and a budget saw. The laser was unusable outside in all but overcast conditions.

The 779 is a beast as is every other 12" sliding miter. If you are not needing that cut size, I would aim for a good 10" slider.

I purchased the DW779 at the right price and mounted it on a Rigid MUSV. It's much too heavy to carry around.

As soon as I find a great 10" for the right price, I'll move back to one and let the Dewalt go.

Don't purchase the Dewalt rollingcart/ stand. It is heavy and it is junk. And yes, I have owned several other rolling carts to include Bosch.

Just my two cents and YMMV.

I purchased this saw last year. It's a great saw. But my buddy suggested I check out his Hercules saw from harbor freight for $299 and it was superior in nearly every way. I returned the Dewalt and bout the Hercules with heavy duty stand for under $450.

Piggy backing off rickyb0bby the sliding mechanism takes up a significantly smaller footprint on the Metabo. The laser feature is worthless outdoors but indoors it's a nice feature. Dust collection was a bit easier to hook up but again that's a small thing. The DeWalt is a beast but it is a little too powerful. The Metabo has a smoother operation. Also there are little plastic pieces on the 779 behind the blade. I'm not sure what they do but they all broke/shattered within a week and we had to remove the remains. Saw works fine without them though. I do more work with hardwoods than construction lumber fyi. I would have never bought the Metabo if it wasn't for a Slickdeal this summer but I am very glad I did. Both saws work just fine.

Lastly on the footprint. If this is for a small garage shop the smaller footprint is so much better on the Metabo I would not want the 779 in a small shop.

This is the 779 it's not unusual for it to be this price. It's nowhere near 699 usually. I've been waiting on the 780 to do this tho.

I own the Hitachi version of C12RSH, the original, not version 2. I don't have the DeWalt 779, but I researched it extensively. The advantage of the C12RSH over 779 is adjustability. It has independent left and right fences so that you can adjust them to be co-planer if necessary. The DeWalt fence is 1 piece and you are at the mercy of it to be co-planer coming out of the factory. There are micro adjustment knobs for miter as well as bevel angles after you made macro adjustments. This feature was taken away in version 2. As for performance, I am really impressed. Plenty of power. The factory blade is very good. I usually change factory blade immediately, but this one gave me no reason to. I don't have a Dewalt to compare performance to, but I can't imagine Dewalt is any better.

The Den of Tools on YT did a breakdown of 779 and 780. Looks like Dewalt cheapened internal parts of 780 to 779 level. And it looks like 779 was cheapened further
