For me it's the "blackberry test". Blend a blackberry smoothie— are the seeds pulverized? That's the difference between my Vitamix and our previous Ninja blender. The motor is powerful enough to drive a small automobile, probably

Same in power. The 5200 has the tall narrower container so won't fit under countertop but because it's narrower it can make smaller batches. The 750 same power and container size. The 750 has presets. The ventirist you can contoll presets with your phone. These two are legacy and do not have sent detect. In case you'd want to add the food processor or future attachments these will not work. You can't go
wrong with any of these. I got the V 1200 as well.

since these two are new they probably have at least 7 year warranties.

5200 is close to $150 cheaper after the 10% back if you use an amazon prime card. For what most people need 750 is overkill. More a luxury step up to a very slightly larger motor(you will likely not know the difference for home use), is a bit quieter and has some ease of use options(mainly the presets). Both have a self-cleaning feature but 750 also supports it as a preset.

I too just bought the 5200 from Amazon but just found this 750 on sale and bought this one instead and returned the other. Here is a good comparison between the two:

TLDR; 750 is more powerful, has cleaning option and much quieter. For $100 more I figured it's worth it.
I concur and I did the same.

IMO, all Vitamix does the great job and the motor HP, cover material, noise level, smart function, and etc, are not the deal breaker. However, the preset makes it so much easier to work with while doing multiple things in the busy morning. Just start and wait until it stops. I used to have the one without the preset feature but sometimes it's a little bit annoying to set the timer and have to be around to turn it off. It was totally fine until I notice how good the preset feature is. One of those things that you can't go back once you experience the benefit. 750 Pro would be my choice If I don't have one. 5200 or similar ones would still be a great choice if you don't mind the 10 seconds of extra time to set the timer and the manual on/off control.

I bought the 5200 to upgrade from my two speed Vitamix.
I had a hard time deciding from the 5200 and V2100. I went with the 5200, since it's the good ol' trusty machine that doesn't break.

What do you mean by "cleaning option"? I see this in the Amazon description:

Quote :
Self Cleaning
Just blend warm water and a drop of dish soap at your machine's highest speed, and watch it self-clean in 60 seconds—no disassembly required
Pretty sure that's the same for the 5200 and just about every other Vitamix model.

For people asking 5200 v 750 v V1200 or other models. Apart from all other differences already posted in this thread, there is one unique aspect of 5200 that is not available in very many models of Vitamix. The taller, narrower base container provides the versatility that no other Vitamix models provide. Do you have a need to blend smaller batches? 5200 will crush it while all other wider base models might struggle. With full price 5200 (at around $450+), you could choose a Ascent line up or legacy explorian line up as they provide more bells and whistles and attachments. But at $280, the 5200 new is probably the best value for money.

Disclaimer: I have a V1200 model bought last year.

Do you like your V1200? Does the Bluetooth app work well (is it a benefit)?

I bought the refurb v1200, but debating the upgrade to 750. ... 5200 is also interesting.

Edit: I'm not worried about the refurb-ness of the v1200. 5 year warranty is sufficient IMO.

Edit 2: I think the smaller cups that work with the v1200 seem useful. 20 Oz for smoothie and 8 Oz for peanut butter. I see varying comments on people's success with these items on the v1200. ... What's been your experience?

Thanks in advance if you happen to see this and comment!

I like the V1200 very much -
1. The timer is awesome. It takes care of most of my needs. Typically, I fill the ingredients and set the timer, Bluetooth is essentially not a thing for me. Haven't used it all (I dont follow the recipes from the app). It is more beneficial if you have the scale, so you can follow the recipe to the T, measuring each ingredients and all. Once you are familiar with a recipe, you wont need the app, you can set the timer and go on.
2. 8oz and 20oz are very much required for me as I use it regularly (more so of the 8oz than the 20oz). I chose V1200 because of the two smaller cups. I bought the V1200 refurb as well and I couldn't notice any difference with a new unit. I have to note that the smart detect function in all Ascent series has spooked some people (for the smaller cups). Once you figure how to use it you should be good to go. Once out of the box, I had trouble making it to work couple of times but after that never had a problem.
As for 750 v V1200 - upgrade to 750 only if you don't care for the smaller containers /food processors or the scale attachments or the steel containers, etc., (now or in the future). I have regular use for the 8oz and 20oz which I cannot do w/o. The only adv of 750 I can think of is it could be less noisy? preset function? I don't think I can justify paying more for 750 (or any other legacy models). Let me know if I can answer any other question.

You're awesome! Thanks for taking the time to write this response. You've sold me on the V1200.

I think the 8oz and 20oz cups will be super useful for things like peanut butter, dressing, dips.

One last question (which I assume the answer is "no" based on your last comment)... Do the 8oz and 20oz cups require the app? I've seen lots of comments about a "lack of connection" preventing the 8/20 Oz cups from working. I had assumed these comments related to issues with the app detecting the cups.

Thanks again.

Require the app to function? No. But it does work with the app very well. The smart function enables the system/app to detect what cups/containers is on the machine, so you/app can work out the blending function. App / Bluetooth is not a necessity for any of the Ascent series models (V1200 is an Ascent series model) to function but can be used with all models of the series. The app itself is very well built (ton of contents, very good user interface and is a breeze to connect and use). Connectivity is easy, once you place a bowl or a container, it immediately shows up in the app with the picture of the machine with the corresponding container/bowl and then you can choose what you want to do. If you have the scale connected, once you place the container on the scale, start adding the ingredients per the recipe, they show-up on the app with measurements and all. The app also shows detailed nutritional info per recipe. I have not been using it but the app is impressive from what I have seen. And yes, there are very many user comments/reviews about the smart detection (the machine not recognizing the 8oz or 20oz; if the machine base doesnt recognize, the app will not recognize either). There are several YouTube videos on how to do it (with different methods). After doing a simple tightening of the blade base, place it on the machine and then tighten it on the machine until it recognizes. Initially it will be very tight out of the box but it will become better after few times. This was the first thing I did when I unboxed it.
