10 years later and the ivory one still won't go back on sale $99.

Feels like that sale broke Sennheiser, haha.

Is this good for Xbox series x?
Yes, at 50 ohms it won't be an issue for the controller to drive them.

Had these headphones for over a year or so now, and I can say it's pretty amazing for listening to music. It doesn't have much bass, but it makes vocals rich. Also it's not noise-canceling, and it's an open-back headphone meaning that sound leaks (people around you can hear it if it's too loud).

How is the clamping pressure on these compared to the 560 s? How about the sound (stage, signature, etc) when comparing?

I bought these last cyber monday, they go on sale only once a year. Excellent sound clarity and super light and comfortable to wear all day. If you are a bass head then dont get them, its only clarity of sound you get. Also I purchased a cable to use with iphone.

Safe to say if I didn't like the 58x Jubilee, I wouldn't like these? 58x were extremely tinny in my non audiophile opinion, I like more bass.
How were you driving the 58x?

What did you have them plugged into?

I have the 560S and it's hard for me to quantify this but the sound is superior to the 599 SE.

I had the 599 SE and they're really awesome as well. The 560S has a purer, more accurate sound reproduction, I believe. You can tell when you listen to vocals.

The 599 SEs are generally held to be super comfortable.

The 560S is also pretty comfortable.

I use an add-on microphone from Amazon paired with the 560s for gaming.

At $99, the 599SE is a steal. This is a great deal.

I have the 560S and Drop 38X but I'm tempted to get this!

I also got the $40 JBL Wireless Live headphones from a recent frontpage deal. Way to many headphones already

According to RTINGS: The Senneheiser HD 599 and the Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee are very similar headphones with very small differences. The HD 58X have a slightly more accurate sound profile, but the soundstage of the HD 599 seems to be slightly more open-sounding. However, the HD 599 are noticeably more comfortable to wear for long periods.

I own at least 10 pairs of Sennheisers.

I owned the actual 580 which the 58x are based on and sold them about a year or two ago. I have a number of the 59x series cans and they are very different than the 58x style.

The 599s are much more up front. However, no Sennheiser can is going to be super bass heavy, they have the right amount of bass, it doesn't boost it beyond what the orginal recording was (ala Beats)

Were you using a headphone amp with the 58x? Without one you are going to get bass rolloff. With a headphone amp, if you call the 58x "tinny" I'd have to suggest you don't exactly know what that word means.

I owned both and had to sell the Jubilees. They hurt my head to wear them. The 599s are incredibly comfortable.

I can back this up. My 58x just aren't comfortable. Even though I love them I never use them for that reason. They aren't uncomfortable, but after you've had headphones you can barely feel you start to notice how annoying it is.
