If you have Prime, then add a couple of "Teens" to your account [amazon.com]. Each "teen" will be able to use the coupon. Wink
I got $2 in dig. credit by initally putting 5 in my cart, then changing it to 1 at checkout. An amazon trick.

$5 off coupon is for max. 1 bulb.
Will try for $3. Also for $1 digital credit for slow shipping.

I'm betting it's the ever-present issue with some peoples' networks and devices that require 2.4ghz wifi.
Could you elaborate on that? I've heard nothing about this, and have now tried three different smart bulbs, none of which could be detected by my Echo. It's been driving me bonkers trying to figure out why they can't be seen.

Most if not all smart bulbs can only connect to wifi on the 2.4ghz band.

Modern routers are usually dual band and can broadcast both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi signals. So if you're trying to connect a smart bulb to a 5ghz wifi network, it will fail.

Some routers will broadcast both signals under 1 wifi name and smart connect whichever band it supports, but for smart bulbs it won't work. You'll have to separate the bands as separate wifi network and have the bulbs connect to the 2.4ghz network.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I was indeed using the 5ghz connection. Fingers crossed. Smilie

I use one SSID for 2.4 and 5ghz. It's entirely dependent on your router setup and capabilities. This bulb worked perfectly fine on my network set up this way. The bulb will only see and only connect to it as a 2.4ghz device. The key is that my router isn't using band-steering to move it. I let my devices choose the band they use, instead of the router trying to do it for them.

Did you get the bulbs on your network okay but then can't use them with Amazon Echo? If that's the case, did you link the two components together? In order to use it with amazon echo, you have to link the two accounts. As in, link your kasa account to your amazon account. https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/944/

As long as you first set up the bulb in the kasa app, it works quite well with amazon echo.

I missed the big sale on Kasa bulbs (twice now --out of stock by the time I see the sale). The ones I have are Amico, Sylvania and urlhasbeenblocked. None are visible, even after switching my Echo to the 2.4 ghz connection. I also keep running into apps that aren't compatible with my phone. I'm going to toy around with the Smart Life app and see if that can do anything. I've read that the Amica bulbs work with it.
