I'm not "going for" anything. Corded isn't practical with a large piece of property. And we have a lot to weed whack well out of reasonable reach for a cord. Mainly, we have the grass around the trees that we can't mow and the grass along the horse pasture fence.
Batteries need replacement every few years and it costs more than the trimmer. Plug in trimmer will last you decades and you will be dying to throw it away.
Well, then you obviously don't know that many people with that much property. I use my cordless to go around young trees and down the banks of the creek where my walk behind gas trimmer cannot. And also to cut out around animal traps and deer blinds. My old 20v Black and Decker still lasts well more than 30 minutes too.
I'm still waiting on the 24v kit to go on sale Lowes...ahem.
Is that before or after they're lobotomized from all the illegally disposed lithium batteries leaching into the water supply?
Also, there's nothing wrong with walking around with an extension cord. It's more convenient than swapping and maintaining batteries.

This is the stupidest thing I have ever read. You want someone to buy a generator which cost more than 2 batteries by the way. Buy gas to run the generator so you can plug in an electric weed whacker to use it.

I wouldn't want to walk around with 200-800' of extension cord or lug a generator around. I can't even fathom how much of a PITA that would be. I get frustrated just running a 50-100' cord across the driveway.

Ignoring price, and given that I have the tiniest yard, should I return and get the corded one? Thanks
I only rarely ever need to use something like this maybe 3 times per year - anybody just starting out with a house and knowing they may need something like this - it's a good price. Being corded, it IS annoying but it'll work and it's not THAT annoying until you get to the point where your 100' extension cord is hyper twisted and you're dealing with your 2 year old child... Then you have an excuse to spring the extra dough for the battery powered shit that'll last you a few more years.
I can easily make statements about how people who use these battery equipment are ignorant to the fact about how environmentally unfriendly that battery is to harvest the raw materials from and that they likely have rainbow colored hair. If you get multiple uses out of this at this price, it'll pay for itself and you'll have an extension cord around for it that's useful for other things.
This is a good piece of equipment at a good price. Is it as good as it could be? Maybe these days, I mean, I've gotten a corded weed wacker for $15 that's not as fancy as this, but it did what it needed to.

The battery is obviously convenient _for now_ - it will likely be useless once the battery dies.
Just depends on what you're thinking - if you prefer convenience and quick in/out with doing the job - battery wins hands down IF you're willing to buy another thing a few years down the line. If it's really not that often and isn't that inconvenient to use an extension cord, then just go with that. It'll likely last forever unless you really abuse it.
Ideally you have both. You use the battery one when you're procrastinating and need to do it quick. You'll have the corded one whenever the battery one dies.

I guess everybody feels different about this. For me, remembering to charge the battery before use is more inconvenient than using an extension cord. Thanks for the response. I'll get the corded.
