Btw, Simple mobile phones do work on Tracfone, Total Wireless, Net10, etc because they are owned by the same company.

Just don't turn it on until the Tracfone sim is inserted into this phone.
Currently Travfone has a 1yr plan for $40, Link for reference below:

ctr11Yes I want to do exactly this I want to use this phone on the $40 plan, do you have the link for the refurbished one I only see new ones. the only refurbished I see is iPhone 7[/quote]
You can always get a Rsim for about $10-15 at eBay
I think what people are wondering is if it will be unlockable after the year of Tracfone service is up.
I have no doubt that the TracFone sim will work, but in 12 months will the phone be unlocked by the company? that's the real question
But I did mention the Rsim option as well

Still I am not sure I follow the steps if I am an existing RP customer. Can i just move my RP (CDMA) SIM card into the phone, then switch it on; or do i have to buy the $40 tracphone sim card that the OP mentions is on another SD page (say for verizon), then start the iphone on that SIM only, and then wait for activation and then swap back my original RP (CDMA) SIM? That would increase the price by another $40. My aim is to not use the SM or TF minutes but the RP service which is monthly 1000 mins. Thanks
According to Google SM and Red Pocket are both under the T-Mobile network, all you have to is put the red pocket sim into the new iPhone before turning it on for the 1st time.
Call red pocket to make sure your specific sim IS under Tmobile' network, since I read they vary from T-Mobile to ATT and Verizon. You have the whole day today to buy this iPhone anyway.
it's Best to check w/a rep first
OR you can buy an Rsim for $10-15 on eBay, unlock the cellphone and use it with your red pocket sim 🙂 let me know if you have any other questions

As the OP I cannot mention this, others will benefit from this 🙂
