So many complaints about a $50 keyboard with stand and seat not being top of the line. I guess it's not a deal if it's not an $800 Porsche. Probably still complain about the gas mileage on that too.
Even if so, the bench alone cannot be found for less than $20. Not on Amazon, not CL.
I have my own digital piano already, but frankly to include the stand, keyboard, and bench for $50 this seems like an incredible deal.
As far as the incentivized reviews on Walmart's site, I believe that's part of the Walmart Spark program where people get free products in exchange for a review, so you're correct there - however, while I can't speak for this particular product, Alesis is a well known brand.
As far as the post, yeah, that's kind of SD's thing, they make their money from being affiliates and hijacking click-thrus on each deal post and posting sponsored "deals". Personally, I find staff posts to typically be a bit more in the lukewarm category, but without these "promotions" if you will, we wouldn't have this site.
Edit: Also, upon looking up this particular model, it may be a lower end model made exclusively for Walmart. The only places I see information on it are Walmart, Alesis's website and other deal sites. Is it a deal? It's hard to say for certain, but it doesn't pass the sniff test, that's for sure. I'd be wary.

Are you serious? You can do whatever you want with the bench. It's a bench
Ok sorry boss. I wasn't sure if the way that the piano is attached to the bench with straps then is that same thing possible to do with other pianos. Never owned a piano in my life so just wanted to know if most pianos are able to accommodate the same method of attaching to the bench. The other concern was whether having a larger piano (88-key) would be too big for this bench and may feel wobbly on this bench that maybe more fit for this size of the piano.
Just a note for those considering the Casio Casiotone 61 vs. this—and I realize this is probably an edge case—but the Casio has USB, which means you can connect it up to a computer or mobile device (phone/tablet, with correct adapter) at which point it becomes a MIDI controller. You can then use it with synthesizers, DAWs, notation software, training/tutorial software, etc.
This, IMHO, makes it a better deal because it offers more functionality. Granted, you do not get a bench, stand, or mic with this, but I imagine for $50, those are not the highest quality.
EDIT: I just read that the CT-S100 is NOT touch sensitive, so limits its functionality.

I think the confusion here is that the bench is what you sit on and the stand is what the piano sits on. I assume you are actually asking about the stand.

Purchased the alesis nitro mesh kit last christmas for my son. Purchased the extra crash/Tom kit for this Christmas. $50 for what this is and what it comes with, is a no Brainer for a 5 year old (almost 6) that loves music. Thank you for posting.
Another frontpage repeat deal being pu$hed to the front page again... hmmm I wonder why.
Or considering the fact that it's a decent keyboard w. the needed accessories from a great name at an awesome price during the Christmas shopping season?
hard to recommend a keyboard, no matter how cheap, without velocity-sensitive keys. I'm kinda ashamed for Alesis who I generally like a lot.
for those who don't know, velocity (or touch) sensitive keys mean you can play at different volumes. it's an absolute REQUIREMENT for any type of music (other than organ).
I think this is essentially the same keyboard as a harmony 61 MKII, which we bought because we thought it was a Harmony 61, not realizing the MKII is a downmarket version with no USB support. I will be forever annoyed with Alesis because of that.
So, you're saying that if you had spent a little more money on your starter equipment, they wouldn't have become lifetime hobbies or a career?
I didn't grow up wealthy. The price point was always all-or-nothing. So to answer your question…yes. Think of all the poor musicians that we'd be without if they didn't start out on dime store guitars and pianos.

I did not grow up wealthy either, but I did grow up with a lot of musicians. They would argue that learning to play on a keyboard where all keys feel the same weight and play at the same volume no matter how hard you hit the key isn't really learning. But like I said in my original post - that's my opinion. You are welcome to yours, as well.
Can anyone comment on this vs the Casio deal from the other day?
I didn't hear their sound, but for me this Alesis item is more like a kids toy, and as for Casio, I can at least use it as a MIDI-keyboard (and get any instrument I want through PC). But if you want to play quite often and it will be your only instrument, get something with a velocity (touch) sensitivity. Both of these keyboards don't have it.

Thanks OP in for one.
