I would always get SATA3 SSD for now "IF" you have an older motherboard or laptop that does not have m.2 2280 NVMe socket. Even if you get m.2 NVMe, it does not show much difference in day to day use vs. SATA3 SSD. I got Samsung 870 EVO, but that's because it's easier to migrate from my older Samsung with their provided software. WD Blue, Hynix S31, or this... all great SSDs! Good luck!
Nope.

Btw, here is a cheap laptop build I have done in the past with these SSD sales.

HP elitebook 840 g2 or g3 from eBay. Usually around $170 or less and a great laptop. These laptops are easily upgradable and have a 10 score on ifixit for repairability.

New battery of eBay for $30

$30 windows 10 key on Kinguin.net.

Whatever SSD is on sale on slick deals at the time.

If you can add a PCIe NVMe SSD instead, that would be preferable to SATA (this product).

Didn't they reduce the TBW guarantee by half on these drives?
From 600tbw to 300tbw due to consistency issues.

I've been through this a bit. I say - if you have an older laptop, do upgrade it. If you don't - don't bother with Ebay.

2 issues with Ebay - you never know the condition of the item, and then you'd have invested $ for a new battery, SDD, Win license, etc to see that it works well. So it's a bit of time and $ invested, some items are tough to return/time sinks.

The other issue is that before AMD beefed up their mobile offerings (Zen!), Intel's chips were feeble. For example, there are some 7th gen's i7s which are dual core (!!!). Also, recently the integrated graphics has been boosted a bunch and rivals the discrete cards from a few years ago.

Weight/size matters too, the recent offerings are much more slim and lighter.

Anyway, if you only have ~$200 to spend, do chase eBay. If you can afford ~$400, get something new with a recent chip, and upgrade memory/SSD as funds allow.
