One warning /heads up on this unit. I have the 12k BTU version.
It has a lot of fancy features. but one HUGE flaw.
The inverter is run with some algorithm that decides how much compressor to run based on what it thinks you need. So if its moderately warm outside and you set it to 60, it may only run the compressor at 30% capacity, even when set to high, so you will only get the equivalent of a 5k BTU unit. In addition, this software does not allow the compressor to run at max power when the fan is set to low. So if you want a low fan speed, you will not get ice cold air. Using my kill-a-watt meter on my 12k BTU unit, the most I ever saw it draw was around 650 watts. For example, there are some days where its in the low 70's outside, but the room gets over 80 because of the sun. The unit tests the outside temp and decides that it only needs to run the compressor at 25%, so the air coming out is never ice cold and the room struggles the cool. There is a temperature sensor on the inside coil to sample the inside air but it seems to pick up the old air from the unit itself so it simply does not know that the room is 80 and it needs to power up. I tested it out by point a hair air dryer at the temp sensor and the compressor ramped up, my killawatt showed it pulling 1100 watts and the air coming out was much colder.
The inverter claims to save money and be quiet. That is true, however you lose a lot of control. With a standard AC unit, you can turn it on and know that your 12k BTU unit is giving you 12k BTU of cold air. You will almost never achieve that with this unit.

Update: Consumption seems to vary significantly based on the fan speed. If I drop the fan speed to 20% then consumption drops to about 250 watts. Faster fan speeds cause increasing power usage, eventually reaching 760+ watts at 100% fan speed. I swear I tried both auto and 100% fan speeds yesterday and couldn't get it to consumer more than 500 watts. You should definitely try playing around with the fan speeds in the phone app and see if you can get it working better. (though it's obviously not so quiet when the fan is maxed out)

Update 2: The outdoor temp has dropped to 83 degrees (was 93 degrees earlier) and consumption is back down to 500 watts. The inside temp is 69 degrees (same as earlier) and I have the AC temp set to 60 degrees. Maybe it's using a formula to set the maximum compressor speed based on the difference between the outdoor temp and the indoor temp (or maybe the outdoor temp and the set point) and you have no way to override it, unlike on a traditional AC where you just adjust the set point to the lowest possible temperature and it'll just run the compressor continuously.

I bought one of these over a year ago and it has been the best window AC unit I've ever seen. It's basically a split unit, but on a window. All the loud stuff is outside. I sleep maybe 8ft from it and I often wonder if I turned it on before getting into bed. I haven't even used all the features but it definitely feels like a vast improvement over other window AC's. Definitely feels next level. Cools very well and I'm usually running hot.
I think Home Depot's return policy is 90 days vs Amazon for this says "returnable until January 31st". Also could be beneficial to pick up in store because of the risk of damage during residential shipment.
edit: looks like Home Depot may be backing out of this price? Some people are seeing full price so YMMV.

During the summer costco carried this same 8000BTU U air conditioner, it was a Danby DAC080B6IWBD-6. Danby had a better 2 year warranty and it cost about $309 I think. It's not on their website now but this is a good deal.
For those that have these, it looks like they would be quick to install in an emergency cooling situation? just open window set it in, then install the 2 side wings? how long would that take? in the videos it looks like just minutes.
Was looking at these couple weeks ago, thinking on getting a couple of these just to have for emergency room cooling in a florida SHTF situation just to have a cooling off room for extended outage. I run my house when needed on generator but i'd have to seriously step up in size to run the central ac, but could run one or two of these comfortably, but don't want them installed 24/7...just have ready to install.
edit: Oh nevermind, first review mentioned it's not as easy as video's make it look.

Don't have it installed currently so can't pull dB levels, but anecdotally can tell you that we sleep with a 12,000 BTU model within 6 feet of our bed. While it DOES run much more quietly than any other window unit I've ever used, the biggest thing for me is that it very smoothly transitions between the compressor running and turning off. I'm not overly sensitive to white noise, but hate noise that jostles me from sleep and this AC makes few disturbances.
If you want something now, I would recommend this wholeheartedly. If you want to take your chances on waiting for the next improvement, I'm watching for these to be released: https://www.gradientcomfort.com/

Looks like someone already makes one of these over the sill a/c units (though it's not a heat pump). Besides being relatively expensive, the main complaint from the 1 star reviews seems to be the water which condenses in the inside unit.
Would not be able to use until may or even june for me. What if it has a problem. Should I wait for Costco to bring these back. It seems that, in general, the extended warranty benefit has mostly disappeared from no-annual-fee credit cards (along with travel benefits and price protection). Which is why I'd be worried about relying on it from the Costco card, given it has no annual fee. Concerningly, the benefit is not mentioned on Costco's site LINK[costco.com].
Perhaps it is being "phased out" and the change will only affect new card holders.
Or perhaps, it is still in effect but Costco wants to promote purchases at their store so they are hiding its existence.

Our neighbors bought a couple of these for their apartment last summer and love it. I honestly couldn't tell by sound if the air conditioner was on, it was that quiet. I wasn't planning on shopping for air conditioners in December, but I'll in for two. Thanks OP!

If you leave the bracket installed, you just place the AC on the bracket in 20sec and that's it, then need few minutes to deal with the foam insulation.
As for the bracket, it also can be removed and installed in a minute ones it's already assembled, as all you need to do is to extend one single piece to hold onto the window.
This all assumes no screws are being used, but i don't see why would you use any.
I did this couple of times and really don't see what people are complaining about. You just need to make sure not to grab the unit where the metal fins are as you will bend them

I'm so cheap that it's hard to buy anything new. But I'm tempted because I really like my sleep to be dark and quiet. Can anyone with a sound/audio background share their noise experience and measurements?
I'd like to know what the sound levels are like about 2-3 feet away from the unit?
It sounds like a regular fan running only. The way it seals the window helps as well
