When having work done at bestbuy be very very careful. I had this installed last time it went on sale and it was a nightmare. The bestbuy techs didn't bother to look up/ didn't know about the Nissan/Infiniti feature of being able to roll windows down with the FOB, so now every time I remote start my car the windows roll down, not a huge amount but enough for someone to stick their arm in through the windows and unlock the car, or in case of rain or cold for your car to get completely soaked, making the remote start feature almost useless if I can't use it in bad conditions to have my car started, also I was told Infiniti doesn't have a bypass feature so every time you get to your car you have to turn it off to be able to open it then turn it on again when you get In it, not to mention they DESTROYED the inside of my door when installing the starter. I'm talking they broke every cap on the door that could be broken, broke every clip that held my door panel but 1 and instead used screws to hold it in, and my speaker was put back in so bad that it was literally dangling with one screw. I work at a body shop so I always do the work on my cars and don't really let people take them apart, so when I took pictures of everything that was wrong and broken and took it up with their customer service I was told the store was responsible for repairs and that I would be reimbursed for any damages, except when I went to the store to verify this the "install manager" claimed that my car had come in like that and that he had done everything he could to fix it (which again was bullshit because I work on my own cars) I ended up having to battle it for months and had to go around bestbuy all the way up to their insurance company to get reimbursed for my damages. Overall I would never have done at a bestbuy again. This was at the Austin location on 183 and Lakeline. If you get "Nick the manager" as your install guy, run, run away quick

Install took about 1-2 hours on 2013 subaru outback about 1 month ago. In theory, i like my unit since i live in an apt and have outdoor lot parking so i can start it when i'm walking to my car in the cold.

However, I have had success starting my car 1/2 of the time and the other 1/2 with it telling me my hood is open (which it isn't) which i notice happens when it is especially cold out (defeats the purpose of having it installed). I have an appt next week to see if they can figure out what is going on (hopefully a simple solution i'm not catching).

They charged me a $10 hood sensor thing (which in retrospect, i wonder if i could have refused given the issue's i'm having now). No damage from installation as far as i can tell.

I have a 2015 Lexus G350 and they charged me $60 extra for the T-harness. Also Toyota and lexus cars will shut off when you open the door. You will have to restart again once in. Anoying

That's unfortunate, I'll probably have to fork the extra $80 and app fees then for LTE. There's no point to remote starter if I can't do it from my building and the car is parked 3-4 NYC blocks away. Thanks for the input.

I installed it on my Toyota Sequoia 02 and my old RAV4 2008. Neither one will shut off when you open the door. Only when you hit the brakes

Had 2 of them installed and both work great. Has about a city block long radius. However seems like when its really cold, that shortens alil. Overall Im impressed. Both my cars are under 2010 models, so if you have a more modern sensitive computerized vehicle, me personally, I'd probably go to the dealership or talk to the tech first.. I think this is great for most basic vehicles.. Take note this is not an alarm. You can pay extra for the add-on

T-Harness has been unavailable for many Hondas right now, so they will have to use the generic one that is all spliced connections. I returned it and installed a Fortin EVO-ONE myself with their T-Harness. Works great with a Civic factory fob and I even ran the trigger to the rear defroster and set to enable under 41F.

There are good installers with experience at some stores, others not so much. Unless you know what to ask them or someone can vouch, it's a crapshoot. I'm glad they didn't end up having the harness for my car and I installed a Fortin unit myself. I can control all the options and settings as I wish (using their USB flash updater) and I understand how it all works, so if there's a problem I can quickly troubleshoot.

No one will be as careful with your car as you. I realize not everyone wants to tackle it, but spend a little time reading and asking questions on their Q&A and it's not hard.

The other option is to find a well-reviewed shop in your area that installs them all the time. It might cost a little more, but would likely be done right.
