Make your own using spices on the fly or pre-make small batches and store in a ziploc. Lots of recipes out there and no junk added.

One example:
https://therecipecritic.com/the-b...seasoning/
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

Actually the cornmeal helps to form the consistency of the taco meat so it's stickier when you put it into the shelf. Taco Bell uses oatmeal. Personally I use potato flakes.

Actually, in the US per the FDA, ingredients are required to be listed in order by mass:

source: https://www.fda.gov/food/food-ing...ves-colors

P.S. I don't mind cornmeal in particular, I just saw this post and think it's important for people to understand why the order of listed ingredients is significant. Even if you don't always care to look

THIS. Anyone who cookies has all of these basic spices. Same thing for jerk, Italian seasoning, etc etc etc etc. Indian is one of the few cuisines that seriously benefits from having quite a few whole spices around and also making your own mixes for garam masala, etc.

The point is to make your own. Even the recipe posted could be simplified.

You beat me too it. I remember when this "deal" popped-up last time. "Premium" means they add corn meal. The regular (non-premium) McCormick Taco Seasonings don't have corn meal and are way better.

Was checking to see if it's let and I saw that. I'll keep on making my own.

Nope, too much filler. The ones you get in the small envelopes does not have corn meal as the #1 ingredient. No need to glue together the meat... with anything.

The make-your-own recipe looks interesting, worth a try.

No Corn Meal
Yeah, it uses corn starch instead to thicken. Honest question: How is that better? By the way, it also contains sugar if that is important to anyone.
