I own this watch in this exact color way. Invicta haters regularly come out of the woodwork, trash this watch and then recommend something costing two or three times as much. For $45, this thing is a steal. It's powered by a well regarded Seiko automatic movement and the case is all stainless steel and nicely finished. And the exhibition caseback is just plain cool. People who will nitpick over the mineral versus sapphire crystal, alumimun vs ceramic bezel, hollow endlinks and pressed steel clasp seem to lose sight of the fact that we're talking about a sub $50 automatic watch.

Legitimate reasons not to buy this watch:

If you don't appreciate the old fashioned charm of automatic (self-winding mechanical) movements, look elsewhere.
If you hate the idea of a Submariner homage, look for an original design. But but don't harp on Invicta for copying Rolex's iconic design, because they're far from the only company that does this.
If you're willing to brave the wild world of Aliexpress and other Chinese retail sites, you can get a similar Submariner homage with better specs for not a lot more ($75-$100)
The Invicta logo engraved on the side of the case bugs the crap out of some people.
Are you sure you want a dive watch? It gets its 200 meter water resistance in part due to its screw down crown, as does just about every other dive watch on the planet. If you forget to screw that crown back down after setting the time and get it wet, even once, you WILL ruin your watch.
Considering current situation.... Vostok might not be a best suggestion.
Invicta's QC and manufacturing processes have come a long way. Gold tone actually looks like gold. They use the TMI NH35a automatic movements like Seiko does and while they aren't as smooth as a NE88, Swiss made 25 jewel automatic they are decently accurate (but not Quartz accurate)

For this price nothing can touch it. There are better watches to be had albeit at a 300% increase in price.

People keep bringing up resale value. In this price range, does it really matter? I mean who would actually try to sell an Invicta? It cost like 40-100. As for service, I have never needed any service done. Like I said I have own it for 8+ years and taken it on many trips, been on many snorkeling trips, oceans, swimming pools and it still works. For less than 100, not sure if you could ask for more
I once sold a used Invicta for 60% of new one on Ebay. Not too bad, I sold it because the sub dials were too small for old eyes, I now love simple design with good eligibility.

these watches are great, the movement is almost worth more than the watch. However, the Invicrta stigma is STRONG and resale value the worst of any watch i've seen. If you need a competent diver and give 2 sh/ts about stigma, grab it.

I do see you mentioned you're planning to compare it to your boss's watch, which sounds to me like you'll be wearing it at work. If you're in a profession where you type a lot, or even if you rest your hands on a desk and kinda slide your hands around, I would recommend saving it for non-work wear. Anything that rubs against it with even light pressure is going to abrade it, and will take it off rather quickly -- this is true of any gold toned jewelry, not just these watches. I'm not giving out new information here, this is a general truth of this type of jewelry. If you're kind to your watch and don't to much to abrade it, and keep it clean from substances that will speed abrading, then sure you might minimize the wear for a good period of time like some of the commenters. Do be prepared for the chance that your wear patterns may make you less fortunate than those screaming that it'll last for year and years though.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new watch. As others have mentioned they do make a good modding watch base, and there are some pretty great looking mods out there.

Why buy it if you can't afford to even wear it?

Nope, absolutely not! If you wanted to start with inexpensive Swiss watches, try Tissot, Certina, Hamilton and similar priced watches. Invicta is cheap quality and use shady marketing ploy of inflating the MSRP to outrageous amount like $600 and slash down to $60. Trust me they fooled a lot of newbies with this unethical marketing ploy. Check out all Invicta watches across multiple retail outlet and you will know what I mean.

LOL at "wasting additional TIMe" especially this is a watch discussion. Good punch line. I agree with you. Invicta piece of shiete die hards defending the brand and quickly forget about their biases the moment they save enough to afford a real quality Swiss watch.

As a dive master I would seriously recommend A citizen pro at minimum this is your life that you're playing with. The last thing you need to do is be on a Deco stop and not have your watch work. At a minimum I would go with this. https://www.jomashop.com/citizen-...eHEALw_wcB

But don't you use Dive Computers? I mean using a dive watch is really just jewelry.

My quick .02 since it doesn't really matterโ€ฆ

Invicta got me into watchesโ€ฆ and you soon learn what is quality and what is desirable and you also learn that watch people are super opinionated and snobbish but there are those here who want to guide you to not waste your money.

For long term durability - stay away from gold plating on anythingโ€ฆ it rubs off.

For auto vs quartz - quartz always is more accurate and more durable , but you have to change the battery every 2-5 years (depending on movement).

I recommend Citizen Eco Drive - essentially bulletproof like a gshock but in a classic design. I have 2 going on 8 years and never skipped a beat.

For Swiss vs Japanese auto, go Swiss. You pay more but it's more durable and you can get serviced. Japanese auto are not as accurate but you can get good results for the money.

As for Invictaโ€ฆ the brand has a stigma of ignorance or ghetto nessโ€ฆ I will let you decide

To each their own, but I'd take the blue face Casio Duro instead for essentially the same price.

I own 2 of these, silver and gold. They're quite tough, I've had to replace pins in the band a few times but the time piece has been somewhat abused and didn't care. I wanted a real automatic watch (not quartz) that looked good for a low price, and these have been lights out for that.

If you're into Seiko MODing, the automatic movement alone is worth it.
