True but the 12600K is at $280 right now so that's a $55 difference plus it's 125W TDP and no stock cooler so if you are building on a budget (which most of these cpus are for) you have to add that cost as well so now you are looking at a hundred bucks which could go towards RAM or an NVME.

Finally, cheaper than Microcenter. But, can't beat Microcenter's extra $50off promotion expire at the end of this month.

New builds should go 12400 in this price range. Upgrading an AM4 rig then this is a good price. There's a reason I went all AM4 in my house since 2017. Moved around a 1600AF, 3100, 3600, 3700X and more recently a 5600G for the kid's computer.

12600k would cost more than twice as much after a few years of usage, considering the much higher wattage.

The $280 12600k is better than the $350 5800x. So its weird people compare it to the 5600x.

The $180 12400F is the same performance as the 5600x. So the 5600x is still overpriced with this 'deal'.

12400F similar performance with cooler for $180 wouldn't be paying $225 for 6 cores at this point.

Easy to find a used am4 board for cheap to put this in a similar price range to intel once you factor in a Motherboard.

AMD's AM4 platform is close to EOL after a whopping 5 years.

AM5 motherboards will be released in Q2, along with Zen 3+ / Ryzen 6000 desktop APUs initially.

The next big upgrade Zen 4 / Ryzen 7000 is planned for Q3 2022.
