Finally this CPU is priced where it should have been at launch. Fair price if you can't wait until later this year when Zen4 and Raptor Lake launch, or have an AM4 mobo that needs an upgrade.

What is worth the upgrade on a am4 motherboard? How much upgrade from 2700x would this be?

Yes. I have the 2700. Planning on upgrading my spare pc with an x470 board.
That or wait longer for the 5800x 3d to drop and get that since its the last on am4.

Still a bit priced too high IMO. 12400F is $180, or you can get the 12400 for $200 if you want an IGP while you want to find a GPU they trade blows with the 5600x, and there are now LGA1700 motherboards that are $80-$130 which was the one area AMD was ahead in, board costs. The 5600x is very slightly better in a few tasks, but absolutely not worth $50 more.
Also for new builders AM4 is discontinued/end of life, and Zen 4 will be on AM5 which isnt backwards compatible, while LGA1700 will support a minimum of 2 generations.
If you already have an AM4 board that supports Zen 3 and are coming from Zen 1/Zen+ then yeah this is good for you, but its still not price/performance competitive for new builders.
Unfortunately my X370 doesn't have the BIOS update to support 5000 series (Gigabyte) so I've been left in the dust by AMD. Might as well wait until Zen 4, but damn my 1700x is really starting to show its age recently.

Big upgrade over the Ryzen 5 3600 in terms of Xenia emulating or just a sideways upgrade?
