I'll add my 2 cents here since this information helped me on another thread. This device is more powerful than your regular Fire TV stick and Chromecast w/GTV. It may or may not be noticeable in everyday tasks but where I feel that it really shines is in streaming games from my PC to my TV. I get smooth 1080P streaming with no artifacts and no noticeable lag. I've tested multiple other devices and none of them was as good.

Can you wirelessly stream audio from a fire tv stick to your echos? I have a "home theater" setup with fire tv cube and 2 echos and echo sub all synced and playing together wirelessly from whatever I'm watching from my fire tv cube. It's so convenient in fact that I'm getting rid of my klipsch 2.1 setup in my bedroom

Don't know, but if you have one, just go through the trade-in process to find out. You don't have to commit.

I got $5 + the 20% off and it was instant.

So they give you $19 for a 4k stick if you buy a cube. Probably not a good idea for an average user

The trade-in value (20%) didn't come off at the checkout. Got a message after submitting the trade-in that the 20% would be applied to my account after sending in the fire stick

My extra 20% did not come off at checkout. If it is not there when I get my credit card statement, I guess I will ship the cube back.

I set up a trade but it looks like you only get the 20% after they receive your trade? Its not coming off during checkout for me?
I'm confused, as I thought the extra 20% was from using a Chase Prime card. But then there seems to be another 20% off deal in relation to the trade.

Both. 20% additional off if you trade in a firestick. But it's not instant for me. It's saying it'll be applied after evaluation. Some are getting instant off tho.

Thanks. So the only thing missing is DTS. Can the memory be expanded?

EDIT: OK apparently this device has no passthrough so no atmos, dts etc so not good for kodi
Yeah, I've been down this road before and came to the conclusion that the nvidia shield is the only one that checks all the boxes for media playback. And it upscales crap old content very well (have a lot of old DVD rips in my collection). Only shortcoming for media files it has is the lack of Dolby Vision for Sony TVs (it triggers DV but doesn't implement it properly) - this may have been fixed but don't think so.

I was getting a lot of freezing with my Fire TV cube playing 4k videos on plex over a wired network. Switched to a Nvidia Shield and it plays very well. Realize that is a more expensive product but wanted to share just in case someone has the same problem.
Yup, mentioned above that the Nvidia shield is the way to go for media file playback. All other devices have some sort of shortcoming that will frustrate you in the end. Can't put a price on that. Plus as I said above, it upscales old content pretty well (almost as good as a HTPC with a decent mid range GPU). If all the user is doing is streaming then get this or a roku ultra and be happy.

I got the impression that the cube is just better with it's own alexa speakers but my money is on the 4KMAX stick. It's been solid and now Prime is giving free games. Some say other controllers work, I just haven't tried and can't find the SD post
Unless something has changed since the 4k stick from 2 years ago, blue tooth contollers pair with the fire device and let you play games. Not sure about the selection but bought a handful of retro Sonic games for my son when it came out. There might be more out now.

Edit: The specific controller that I paired with it was a PS4 controller

What do you mean by "with Kodi gone"? What am I missing ? Did Kodi development cease in the last few months that I am not aware of ? Please elaborate.
He answered that in post 29, but the comment wasn't even relevant anyway because the original person who brought up kodi was talking about using it for media playback (like plex) rather than getting free content so it's a rather moot point. I prefer Kodi too myself over plex.

yeah, my firesticks have BT, but the old Firestick gamepad isn't supported on the Prime games yet. I do have two of $22 Stadia bundles, that gamepad has been shown to work. Also just noticed Cnet agreed with me, the 4K Max is best. https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-en...k-in-2022/ even better when it was $39

Can this replace my Logitech harmony hub and setup activities? As in, with a touch of a button or Alexa command: change the tv to the correct input, turn on sound bar, and launch a specific app all at once?

If we're being honest, the only real perk for a normal user is this basically combines the echo and the fire TV stick - still, very tempting to grab another
It's much faster response
