So they're gonna bend over backward for good CS right now.
It's after the follow-up comes out saying "Hey looks like Newegg legit improved things for customers!" that they'll go back to the money pinching anti-consumer behavior.
Speaking of GN though, they did review this CPU moderately favorably... their benches found like a 1.5-3% difference in most stuff compared to the 5600x, so MAYBE for $10 at Microcenter you get the X anyway, but beyond that the non-x is the better value.

I see $229 everywhere else though
No need to risk it at NoEgg when you concider the other options..
I am thinking 5600x for $10 more is worth it from my local Microcenter with a $20 MB discount. , but I may go the Amerzon route if I feel thre is no good reason to go 5600x IDK, but these are the new normal prices, so I would expect a few deeper discounts on the 5600x as it is a older chip...
I would go with 5600 personally since theyre almost the same.

Man, Gamers Nexus really did a number on Newegg's reputation, huh.

I do not live in California, but yea it is a pain in the arse to get to MC for me as well.. I look at it like this.. If I continued to suport NoEgg my money would not be going to my local (40 miles each way) MC, and if I wanted more stores closer to me, I better make that effort to support MC.. If you keep supporting NoEgg, you will get more of the same un responsive customer service and shenanigans they are known for..
